through something via sparkhire.

anyone ever do this before?

from what i read, it asks me a question, lets me mull it over, then records a video of you answering it and they send it over. thats it. i believe its a way to screen you before they do a real interview.

I haven't done one but have heard of it. Yes it is like interviewing with a robot so they can see you.

Yeah I just did one about 2 weeks ago or so. They asked me 4 questions. They were the typical questions you'd receive at a regular interview though.

"Name a time that a customer was upset and the approach you took to help the situation resolve peacefully"

"Tell us about thing you are most proud of accomplishing in your working career"

Shit like that. It was definitely odd. The best part about job interviews is after their question you can ask them a question back to give yourself more time to think of a better answer or whatever, but with the one way interview you don't have that at all. You pretty much have to have your whole answer planned out. I did get one do over for each question if you messed it up really bad.

I think the people on the other end of it understand how awkward it can be for most people and are just looking to see if you are intelligent enough to get your way through it without failing spectacularly.

If you have any specific questions let me know.

You just reminded me of a time a company wanted me to call a number and then a robot will ask a question and I am suppose to give an answer on the spot.

Of course I never heard back from them after the call.

Yeah. They had me come in a few days later and still just went through the regular interview process.

Like I said I think it's more of a way to weed out people who can't even deal with the fact that shit can get a little weird and how they handle it. But that's obviously just my opinion.

I did one of those last spring. I was then called for a Zoom interview with the team (it was for a high school teaching position). I didn't get an offer, but it didn't matter because we ended up not moving.

SparkHire was really easy to use, IMO.

I don't remember specifically, but they were the same types of questions I get at regular interviews--questions about educational philosophy, "tell about a time you...," things like that.

I forgot to mention that for mine it was an actual person on the video, not just a disembodied voice or random video image. An employee from the site had recorded the questions, and she actually appeared on the screen.

I haven't done anything quite like that. On the other hand, I did hire an engineer to my team using one way video. We introduced ourselves with video, turned off the cameras, and requested that the interviewee keep his camera on throughout.

I once had an interview at the directors house, with her kids there playing in the living room and a panel of about 8 staff all there interviewing me. I even had to act out a lesson plan with one of them and give them a role to do during it. All the meanwhile, the director was in the kitchen cooking.

THAT used to be my worst interview.

Now this is. Holy fucking shit. I better fucking get this job

I had to do something like this for an internal position and it sucked so much ass. I flubbed it but it was more of a formality so I went on to the next stage of the interviews which were thankfully in-person (and I got the position) so it was pointless anyway.

HR lady: okay mr. MixedRaceBaby, tell me about how your previous qualifications and experiences would help you succeed in this position and be an asset to our company.
mr. MRB: CYPERBUNK WAS THE MOST LAUGHABLE ROLLOUT OF ALL TIME. can you believe people paid CDPR to preorder this hot garbage? shit is not fun. i thought this would be an rpg but its just like any other shooter. and i hate shooters. this is simply not for civilized people. cyberpunk was promised to be fallout nv factions, rdr2 role playingGta5 open world, and witcher 3 story and paths. Instead we got Far Cry with robots. Which is cool I guess....? Remember when they uploaded a video talking about four street styles and how they all mattered? But yet I'm running around in a motorcycle helmet and pink short shorts and NPCs don't bat an eye? What was the point of that video then?
