Do you like the thought of paying for premium meat, even if it's not meat?

No. The point of plant-based meat is too replace meat. But if you can make it cheaper, then make it cheaper. Why would people want it to be expensive. Especially if you want it to replace meat. What would be the point for some to switch if theres no reason. Making it cheaper would give more people a reason to buy it...

Right now, some people wont buy the plant-based meat since it cost more. Making it cost less means they might buy it for cost. Some would...

Some people pay for things to say they have. Just look at Starbucks people. They're so ignorant yet so darn proud and full of themselves.
Luckily, a good chunk of people aren't that way but there's a ton that are. It's sad to see adults acting like teenagers in high school trying to be popular.

Let's say it is basically identical to real meat. Blind studies are unable to tell the difference essentially 100% of the time. What would make you choose the real thing over a plant based steak at that point?

Probably the cost. Maybe the cooking directions. As long as it taste good, Ill be fine. But if I had to choose, Id stick with real meat personally. For me, thats just how I feel. I cant say why for Bugmeat, though...

Aren't there crazy hormone levels in this food currently?
That's what gets me about the current trend.
How long did it take to get the additional hormones out of our meat? Companies are still "proud" of following FDA guidelines and market their meat as such cause it's still recent.
We could potentially have an influx of young girls getting their period even earlier. Seems like every decade we've done something to lower the age of the first period by like 6 months.

Ok, even if your scenario were possible where they could prefectly match the texture of a good ribeye, the muscle tissue, the fat that is spread through it, the way the layer of fat along the edge gets a little crispy from the heat of the broiler, etc. (they can't, that's why all this imitation meat is ground) The extremely processed nature of imitation meat would be why I'm not interested. They've been telling us for decades that highly processed foods are not as good for you as more natural, "whole foods" and imitation meat is some of the most highly processed food around.

Now if they could grow actual meat in a lab, muscle tissue with fat marbeling, etc. and match the various cuts, without the need to slaughter an actual animal, I'd be interested in that. That's far more likely to be possible than taking plants and processing them in a way to perfectly match actual cuts of meat and not just ground meat.

Price. If it's fake meat, it better be a lot cheaper.

What if they do so using substances derived entirely from plants?

I've always thought it was more complicated.

Which would explain why meat substitutes are as expensive or moreso than counterparts.

And no, I wouldn't want it, price be damned. All substitutes have lousy texture and that's like half the joy of eating steak.
