I hate making a top ten list, I'd rather make a list of my favorite movie per decade.

1900s - The Impossible Voyage, dir. Georges Melies, 1904
1910s - Les Vampires, dir. Louis Feuillade, 1915
1920s - The General, dir. Buster Keaton and Clyde Bruckman, 1926
1930s - Humanity and Paper Balloons, dir. Sadao Yamanaka, 1937
1940s - Children of Paradise, dir. Marcel Carne, 1945
1950s - Ordet, dir. Carl Th. Dreyer, 1955
1960s - 8 1/2, dir. Federico Fellini, 1963
1970s - Tale of Tales, dir. Yuri Norstein, 1979
1980s - Possession, dir. Andrzej Zulawski, 1981
1990s - Satantango, dir. Bela Tarr, 1994
2000s - Yi Yi, dir. Edward Yang, 2000
2010s - La Flor, dir. Mariano Llinas, 2018

Although apparently Twin Peaks: The Return was conceived as a single film during the script stages, so if you're on the camp that its a film, that is my favorite of last decade.

Those two are coming out on 4K Blu-ray this month, although only in England. How excited should I be? I'm a huge fan of Lamberto Bava's father, Mario.

1 Ghostbusters
2 Harvey
3 The Thing
4 Die Hard
5 Alien
6 Casablanca
7 Breakfast at Tiffany's
8 Back To The Future
9 Raiders of the Lost Ark
10 Jaws

There are franchises that I'd put in the list as a whole, but not as individual films, if that makes sense - so, like, Star Wars is one of my favourite things, and I'd probably rather sit and watch a few of those movies back to back over some of the films on the list, but I can't think of an individual SW movie that would make the top 10 on its own, without the other films around it. Ditto LotR - the trilogy as a single unit would make my top 3, but not any one entry.
