every character in FO3 and Skyrim is like the same cardboard cutout. Theyre all fucking robots and to get anything approaching human out of them requires a lot of imagination. I love these games a ton, but looking at any single aspect of them closely really makes me wonder why.

The real issue is that none of the mod makers out there do any better. How is that? How is there not really and fantastically written mod adventures? They're all just as dull as boring as the people who made the game

They work for me. I don't expect it to be Witcher 3 or RDR level tho. They built a space where it feels like it fits and the overall product is amazing outside of bugs. I wouldn't call it bad at all.

Why does it take like legit 2 mini-quests to become a full-blown member of the Companions? All the quests are far too short, and provide almost not substance. Everything in Skyrim is dull. The mods make it all much better, however, like I said, none of them have provided a great story like I know people online can write.

They can write good characters. The Mariner in Far Harbor was lovely. I will never not be mad at how her quest line ended though, a lovely story turned into a fucking joke. It legit pissed me off.

Im not some fanboy or anything. I could only ever get 80 hours in one file until I got up to 160 with the VR gimmick attached. I agree that the main stories are usually dull. But I always got the impression no one played them for the main stories. And there's enough interesting side content that it's easy to forgive a boring main story. Im talking about all their highly praised games btw, not just Skyrim. All the main stories are meh with way better stuff in the side quests.

This. I'll grant that the writing sometimes isn't great, but I've enjoyed some of the characters here & there.
