Anyone heard of it?

Really interesting idea and cool way to get snacks all around the world.

I always feel like these monthly subscription sites are a rip off. Usually one decent item with a bunch of trash, like most of the stuff is rejected products that were never popular

Sounds about right. I was subscribed to Loot Crate for awhile, and it was a fun novelty for awhile, but I'm pretty sure I've gotten rid of most of the stuff I got.

I'm pretty sure that Lootcrate was literally overstock that didn't sell. I had friends in college who subscribed and for every neat thing that also fell into "pop culture thing they liked" they got, they would get four or five things that were either junk or of no interest to them.

Almost all of the subscription crates for pop culture fall prey to this. Unless you like a broad range of IPs, you're going to wind up with stuff from a franchise that you give no fucks about and there is basically no demand for the item. Even with the stuff you do like, you'll amass just... plastic. Not even plastic that you picked out because you liked it, but just because it was "given" to you and you thought, "Eh, good enough."

Not gonna lie, I have thought about signing up for a particular subscription box. It's themed entirely around a property I like, the items are always cute and practical, and it only ships once a quarter. It still seems like I'd end up with tons of crap I didn't need though. I actually got a piece from one of their boxes from a second-hand store for dirt cheap (like $3 out of a box that costs $40).

Had to see if Snackcrate truly is 10% good and 90% whatever. The official web page doesn't have a contents listing, but a few items that are fairly popular and of great quality. Of course,t hat could be the 10%...

Had to find a YouTube vid, but... they're over ten minutes long and I find the people doing the unboxing often are unbearably obnoxious. Thank goodness for 2x speed and mute. So, anyhow, I saw several above-average and great snacks. Certainly no throwaways and unmarketable rejects. Some of them were long-running classics, too.

Sigs are rather pointless, except if it's to showcase animation and images.
