I'm very early in just finished the first dungeon, the abandoned house, and have really gotten into the proper game yet but I am liking it so far. Just wish I had more time to play.

I like it. Also played the first and second end layer for the 3ds.

You are correct.

I've beaten the game and everything in it and it just kinda blows tbh. Enemies visible on the map are a terrible mechanic. They removed auto battle for no reason. The new turn system is stupid. Counters are poorly implemented. The boating system is just stupid and useless. They removed Bravely second for no reason. The card game is kinda cool but there's no real rewards to engage with it after the gambler job beyond a useless accessory. The encumbrance system is stupid.

Overall the game is just a massive step down from the previous titles and if the next one is like this then I'm probably done with the series for good.

I like the game overall, but I hate how much enemy levels jump from dungeon to dungeon. It makes you have to stop and grind constantly.

Normally, I don't mind grinding, but the fact that unlocking new jobs is tied to story progression makes me want to get through things faster.

As far as the counters, yeah those do get annoying, but eventually it stops being an issue. Once you get certain abilities that can 1 shot normal enemies, counter physical means nothing lol.

No.

You have to equip accessories to remove xp and JP, different ones for each and they take up your accessory slots. There's no modifier for encounters because the encounters are visible on the map.

Technically, there are food items that cause chain battles with specific enemy types for 1-2 minutes. So you can increase the amount of battles you have.

I guess in theory but when Ive already fought a boss that counters all magic and is only weak to magic but also counters healing items, its more just annoying

like there are ways to create strategy without just punishing the player for everything

Yeah, this is the main complaint I have with the counter system. It's obviously there to make players think strategically, but it doesn't trigger 100% of the time and it doesn't show counters in the enemy scan. So you can think something isn't going to be countered, but it actually is.

Like I remember a boss that countered white magic. I healed multiple times that fight with no counters, then bam countered and it screwed me over for that fight.

You can deal with a lot of the counters pretty easily, once you know about them though. The randomness just makes it more tedious than it needs to be.
