You'd be wrong since our good friend Pedro here thinks short shorts are a moral infraction. Imagine me here in the tropics where it's always hot with at least 80% humidity and most people dress skimpy outside the office. Truly I am awash in sin and decadence.

I used to work at a theme park, and saw much more racey outfits than that. It wasn't an issue. It's Oklahoma in May, it's probably hot. Let people wear what they want to.

Also, if you are ok with the outfit only because she is attractive to you, than **** you too.

Again, what does exposed skin have to do with morality? "It's not moral" does absolutely nothing to justify the belief that it's not moral.

When someone is exposing skin in a public place, it is usually for others to observe.
Look at the comments here. She's a cutie and being praised for her looks. I'm not exactly hearing anything about intelligence or great parental skills. She could be smart and a great parent, but it's certainly not what's being talked about. I'm seeing milf comments...

I think you all are confusing as to what I'm driving at.
I'm saying she can do what she wants and the park can handle this as she wants.

My concern is how it got this far and how it'll affect the child. I'm not saying ban anything.

I guess if I had one question for most people, would you want her as your mom or...as your friend's mom?

I should probably stop responding at this point cause my feet are very deep in my mouth. If I've offended someone, I'm sorry. That is not my intentions. I guess I wish this article was about a mom outsmarting six flags and developing new technology or something.

They're shorts and they're fine to me, but it's a private business. They're allowed to have a dress code, and to enforce it.
From what I know, doesn't Six Flag have a water park section? At least all the ones I've been to have.
I don't see how the shorts would be out of line but the hundreds of women in swimsuits and bikini's is acceptable?

Whole situation is messed up but I see nothing wrong with her outfit.

So she shouldn't dress the way she wants to dress because some people are going to objectify her? Should those people not be held accountable for that moral failing, rather than suggesting that she has somehow committed a moral fault for not preventing them from doing so?

I literally just told you most people the tropics dress like this. As such the above question is very silly when all my female relatives/friends etc have been dressed like that to varying degrees. The younger girls (some) push the limit by wearing deliberately too small bikini tops with their boobs near spilling out. They're fishing for attention which is normal for young people. The young guys walk around in short pants with their shirts off showing off their 6 packs. Heck older toned (and not so toned) men do too. Really this girl here looks very standard to me. Not even on the level of the attention seekers I mentioned. You claim to be in some college town but sound extremely conservative.

It's funny because we know in some ultra conservative countries there's a serious problem with women being objectified and treated badly. Even though they're all covered from head to toe.

I don't think you do, actually. Nothing about this situation justifies it or makes it okay, because nothing needs to make it okay. Looking for reasons why it would be okay is missing the point, which is that people's appearances are morally neutral. There's nothing immoral about exposing skin. People can do immoral things with or in response to (mostly the latter) exposed skin, but simply exposing it says nothing about somebody's character.

I think she should feel free to wear clothes that make her feel comfortable. I just saw a woman at the grocery store wearing shorts like there where the bottom of her butt cheek stuck out. At first I was like woah but then I was like well more power to her if she feels confident in it. I wear shirts with the sides entirely cut out exposing my bra almost every day.

Moderation history does indeed factor into how much you can get away with, which is pretty reasonable.

Zeus posted...
For instance, I've been modded for the kind of backhanded flame you just did.

The "backhanded flame" that consists of paraphrasing the autoflag message? I very much doubt you've been modded for saying that people who use "autistic" as an insult aren't decent people, nor for anything comparable to that. If you think you have, I'm almost completely certain that the actual issue is that you're misunderstanding how comparable it is, not any unfair treatment.

Zeus posted...
Keep in mind I've been warned for QUOTING somebody because of the quoted content when the original post containing the supposedly offensive material was left untouched.

I've also been modded for quotes. The general rule is that quotes are treated as though you committed the violation. Being modded for a quote while the original post is untouched is a little unusual, but again, moderation history determines a lot of what you can get away with.
