Surprisingly unmemorable for a Rockstar tale. Its strongest suits are by far its rich characters but I struggle to remember most specific plot beats. I think the narrative spreads itself too thin to be truly effective with a meandering lack of focus. It's the kind of story that feels fantastic to follow in the moment, but leaves one rather empty after the credits roll. Context from RDR2 boosts it, but not by much.

Story/characters/worldbuilding were easily the best part of the game for me, but they weren't enough to compel me to finish RDR.

Open world games just aren't for me.

I'd say the last leg of the game is at least a 9, but most of the stuff building up to it is a little lackluster from a story perspective. Memorable side stories and characters help it though.

I like the story of the sequel better but Red Dead 1 is definitely 2nd in Rockstar stories.

Had a hard time getting into this one, I think particularly because it makes the mistake of making all its characters extremely negative and thinking that's depth. There are some good parts here and there, with the last stretch being the most obvious example.

I definitely think that negativity is one thing that the sequel really improves on. They are very positive criminals in that one!

Was a struggle to get in and started, I never really got hooked by anything, but I did love the ending.
