When I was in first grade, we had a Playstation, and the magazine Playstation Underground would sometimes have demo discs. There were plenty of games and trailers on these discs. The most memorable being Metal Gear Solid, the trailer for Parasite Eve, and Cool Boarders 4.

Now to explain how dumb I must have been: we had Cool Boarders 3. And a demo disc containing Cool Boarders 4. So how in the world I thought this game that was like 1% of the content of the previous game was a full game was beyond me.

The problem with this ignorance occurred in class. My friends were talking about Cool Boarders 3, the game I had (for real). And to seem interesting to them, I said, "hey, I have Cool Boarders 4 as well!"
Cool Boarders 4 was not out yet. Do you understand how horribly confused I was when I was met with classmates accusing me of lying?
"The game's not even out, ApherosyLove!" "You're just tryna get clout (or the 1999 equivalent)." "Yeah, and my uncle works at Nintendo!" "More like ApherosyLOSER!"
I was pretty scarred. I must have cried.

This story has no happy ending.

The one I had had the demo for Spyro. I must have played it a good 20 tubes before I got the game

a bit later on in the PS3 era, some demos even came with online play. it felt so weird finding matches for a free PSN demo thats 5% of the full game, especially if the full game had already come out

The Pizza Hut demo with THPS on it was legendary.

I still have a bunch of demo discs from that era. No way to play them though.

They also had some cool videos from bands like Mushroom Head. I never would have known who they were without the disc since they're not on the radio
