Well I mean they've made like 6 miniseries and 20+ movies, they cant all be winners

but it does look like high quality seasonal action, and its literally only 6 episodes, so relax

I was looking forward to it, not disappointed. They had to release episode one and two at once or I would not have been so kind. Would have been better if they just dropped them all at once or if they had delayed the release and dropped one a day leading to Christmas, the wait between weeks to "build buzz" is dumb, but I understand why it works to their advantage.

They are selling it by playing up Renner in the ads but they should be showcasing Steinfeld, it's her show and he's just in it. It feels like the advertising department still has the "women can't be action hero's" mindset.

I knew about it but haven't watched it yet. I still need to finish "What if..."
Which is great. That Doctor Strange episode was heartbreaking though so I took a break.

Please tell me it's a low for the marvel/Disney stuff.
My parents put it on before Thanksgiving and it was...dramatic and weird. It was spiderman 3 bad, except less action and bad guys, but less time wasted since it was an episode.

I'm not one to watch something until it gets good. I just feel like I'm wasting time when there are movies and shows that stay good or require less buildup.

imo they are showcasing Steinfeld just as much as Renner. Shes supposed to be built up as part of the next generation of Avengers, and a lot of people I know are excited to see her

Possibly more a case of worrying that Hawkeye fans (cue joke that there are no Hawkeye fans) might be annoyed that they're clearly setting her up to replace him. That was sort of the reaction to her character in the actual comics.

I mean, it's not like it's hard to see the future course of the MCU, when they're bringing in her character, they've got Replacement Black Widow, Falcon-as-Cap, and they're slipping Ms. Marvel and Ironheart into other movies. They also aged up Ant-Man's daughter, so she's one step closer to becoming her comic character as well.

Seems pretty clear all the old characters are eventually getting phased out for their replacements and the Young Avengers are taking over. Wouldn't be surprised to see Wiccan/Speed/Hulkling introduced at some point as well. Maybe even Kid Loki (and now WandaVision and Loki introducing all of those characters as minor roles can suddenly be seen as laying groundwork).

Also wouldn't be surprised if they eventually retire Peter Parker and bring Miles Morales in as well.

Id like to imagine theyd let Holland take the lead in an Avengers movie at some pointI cant believe his own trilogy would have so little to do with the MCU as a whole

It's because they're technically Sony movies, and Disney actually has to negotiate with Sony every time they use him in a different movie.

The last thing Disney wants is to make Spider-Man the core of an upcoming storyline, only to have Sony get pissy and torpedo the whole thing over behind the scenes contract arguments.

With how much those movies make (even still), Sony should let them do whatever they want with spidey and rake in the cash.

The problem is, corporations don't actually think this way.

They're not satisfied with some of the money, if they can potentially have all of the money instead. Even if all of the money winds up being less than some of the money. And they'd often rather have no money at all than being forced to split some of the money with someone else.

Basically, greed on both sides kind of ruins things.

At one point, Disney was demanding half the profit from Sony's Spider-Man movies, while Sony was pointing out that they were actually making more money from Venom than they'd make from a potential 50-50 split with Marvel over Spider-Man (on the argument that the MCU crossover was dramatically increasing the gross profit of the Sony films), and Sony was basically ready to tell Disney to go fuck themselves and just go back to making Spider-Man movies as part of their own separate universe (because Venom made over $800 million without any MCU tie-in at all). It came very, very close to Sony not letting Marvel use Spider-Man in Infinity War/Endgame, and Far From Home would basically have been removed from the MCU entirely.

As is, the second Venom film actually outperformed all of the actual MCU films this year. So they're not likely to back down the next time Disney starts swinging their dick around either. But at the same time Disney isn't likely to stop being egotistical assholes any time soon, so we're probably constantly a hair's breath away from a behind-the-scenes argument that shuts down all cooperation. Which means Disney is never going to be super-keen on making Spider-Man the entire centerpiece of the "New MCU". Even if it would eventually make sense in the context of the ongoing story.
