Because he views the vaccines as one of his greatest achievements and wants all the credit for getting them done. So basically from his POV all these people going around talking shit about the vaccines are talking shit about him and his "legacy".

if I'm allowing the possibility that Trump and his strategists have caught on to something, it may be that vaccine support is a moderate issue and he wants to appeal more to the moderate voters who went for Biden.

Yes, Trump very much takes credit for the vaccines because they happened while he was president. As they are, in his mind, one of his biggest accomplishments (something no one else could do, he thinks) they must be promoted and protected because he did them and supported them and therefore they are good and everyone should praise him and thank him for the vaccines.

Anything else (like the fact he had nothing to do with the development of the vaccines or that his supporters typically view them as evil or whatever) is extraneous.

I also remember lots of opportunities outside of social media where he could have spoken up, like the ad with former presidents showing their vaccination. So yes, he could have been more vocal - a LOT more vocal.

Okay you are either being very short sighted or willfully ignorant. As I mentioned in my previous post, he still had MANY ways he could have spoken up about the vaccine after Biden's inauguration. Vaccines were available for everyone in the spring, and he has given interviews, called into Fox news, published 'From the desk of' statements, and had rallies. Over the past eight months, how are you concluding "consistently advocated" if he.... hasn't? Is your standard three statements out of some fifty public statements?
