I like the movies, but this special is a bit weird that it celebrates the actors? is it a behind the scenes thing? I also heard it was a PR move to take attention away from JK Rowlings craziness.

What Jen said. It's been 20 years since the first movie and it was just a way for the actors to get together, talk about filming the movie, their bond, and how the movie has changed their life and how it continues to impact them.

I enjoyed it. It was kind of emotional towards the end.

If you read the books and/or enjoyed the movies I'd recommend watching. It was fun. Plus Emma Watson is hawt

I love the books but didnt like the movies very much so I dont know if Id like it.

I already celebrated my own 20th anniversary of the books a couple years ago

If you didn't like the movies then not for you. It's mostly about the movies with some tidbits about how the books influenced a lot of people and the actors/actresses at a young age.

I remember in like 2010 or whatever, when the series was ending and everyone was crying and being emotional, and I was like I just said my own emotional goodbye 3 years earlier with the books.

Edge Lord alert. It's been about 10 years since the last major movie came out. No one other than WB is trying to actively keep Harry Potter relevant. Not sure why you're going after the actors and not the parent company whose main focus is making money.

The films are, and will always be awful. Everything that came after the 7th book was also awful. Also Rowling is a fucking sick bigot whose fame is fanning hate speech on twitter.

Did you see the special used a picture of Emma Roberts as a kid instead of Emma Watson? I just thought that was funny. It's already been changed, though.

That doesn't really answer the question. The series remained highly relevant until 2011. I think most people would agree that after the main books and movies there wasn't really anything to keep it alive. Fantastic beasts was not successful and nobody really cares about it's existence.

I actually found the two films enjoyable and I'm looking forward to the third this year.
I do not typically watch western films.

Return to hogwarts puts in deleted scenes that completely change the story and characters motivations, and makes it very clear Voldemort was in the right and dumbledore was the evil puppet master all along

Theres also that game show. Which for some reason is hosted Helen Mirren rather than anyone from Harry Potter

Of course it is, that's why so many people are willing to do it even when it actively makes the world worse.

Harry Potter is not a worse series because of Rowling's beliefs, but she uses the platform and the wealth to spread harmful views.
