been off to work today and finally playing up Hades

Right now I'm on my ~10-12th run, and just defeated Meg for the 4th time (this time with the spear, before once with sword and twice with shield). So far the bow feels like the worst weapon by far seeing as it both needs aimed with more precision than any of the other weapons and also takes the longest to use.

This run against Meg was by far the easiest so far. I only took damage once from her (and like 3 times by spike traps) because I powered my dash up so much this run I could just spam dash at her.

Bow is my favorite weapon :x

so that run that was going very well until it put me into back to back room with all armored witches, where my dash was basically useless against them because the screen was covered in projectiles

Also I died with about 400 gold because I got a chaos boon for extra gold but then never encountered charon

how do you use it effectively? Like I feel like the other weapons all have a ranged option of some sort (throwing the shield or the spear or casting) and all the options fire faster, and I'm not seeing a difference in strength between them to make up for it

ooh yeah that might make up for it

Figuring out how to best use the the main bow attack should probably just come from your own experimentation with hitting the sweet spot and what boons work well with it

But if you want a less obvious tip: The special volley attack that shoots lots of arrows can all hit the same guy and "shotgun" him, which can work really with some boons.

Work on getting darkness and keys for the mirror and unlocking all prophecies

Buy all keys, gems and darkness you find

Beating Hades will come naturally

Imo the most useful boon to pick up early is Athena's dash (spoilers in case you don't want build tips)

the bow was my best weapon early on, until I unlocked more of the mirror

there's a daedalus upgrade which eliminates the draw delay, and if you attach weak/doom to it you're cooking

Struggled a lot more with Meg than last time, but took out the room of armored witches easy by putting deflect on the sword's special

only reached the Asphodel boss skeleton once so far

Trick to the bow is it isn't great at DPS, but it is really good at getting lots of hits and stacking stuff like Hangover very quickly

The bow gets easier to use as you go, at least in my experience.

My early favorite was the Shield, I think. It can be very safe.

Pretty sure my first clear was a bow. It is just easier to recognize surroundings from ranged without the pressure of reloading.

My favorite is either the sword or shield. Quick and good at clearing the area around me. Shield is probably the one I've had the most luck with overall.

Shield was what I eventually used to clear the game on heat 16 (the only real bitch of an achievement on the way to platinum)

I beat the game with the Bow, my first time.

The bow is okay but not my favourite. The rail and shield are the best, sword my least favourite and spear probably the worst.

I worked on upgrading the special on each run. Gives insane point blank DPS

Bow ended up being my favorite too, although it didn't take that throne until Aspect of Rama was unlocked.

Still liked it before that, but it was well below the Shield and Spear.

Been playing for about two weeks now and love this thing

Bow is my favorite but I didn't play it like lots of others do. Instead of using the special I just stayed far out of enemy range and focused on perfect hitting them with the bow's main attack. It's slow but the damage from each shot is kind of insane, it 1-2 hit kills a lot of enemies.

Basically every milestone in Hades I reached with either this strategy or a fantastic hammer upgrade for the bow (of which there are several).

One of the really great things about Hades is that weapon preferences are so varied. They really cater to different playstyles, and do it well.

Bow was by far my fav for a long time - didn't like any other weapon. Eventually got into the others but Bow is still my classic.

So I didn't like the bow at all UNTIL I managed to finally unlock flurry shot

That completely changed the game and I literally just flew past every chamber right to the bone hydra where I lost, but got it down to like 1/4 health

but anytime I've used it without flurry shot I've hated it so I'm not sure if it's worth it??

IIRC the first time I got Flurry Shot was my first successful run. I felt so OP.

Spent the next 10 runs trying to recreate it, but I realized there are plenty of other OP combos

Yeah that flurry shot was tearing through everything and then Theseus very immediately shut that shit down

I haven't even gotten close to the end of Elysium Fields again

Fought the solo Minotaur once and lost, and other than that haven't been doing good lately >_>

Elysium was a pretty big wall for me... by then you really need to have picked up some solid boons to increase your damage.

Elysium was a wall for me for a while. Just keep learning and upgrading!

Yeah this is definitely where I'm feeling a lot of the luck of the draw aspect

I've also had some runs where I'm losing a death defy before even hitting Meg or runs where I can't get any extra health upgrades in Tartarus, and that screws me over real quick real early

I do have a fully upgraded Cerberus collar though so I might just start relying on that for a while

The Elysium unique NPC can give you back all of your death defiances; that's saved many a run of mine!
