Today it's time to heat things up. Mewtwo pointed out that we haven't had much gen 1 representation lately, so here's 3 in one! These pokemon all have sole or primary fire typing, I'm afraid secondary fire types like Houndour, Larvesta, and Salandit will have to wait for a different poll.

Vulpix is just too adorable. Those eyes! Gen I did good on Fire types.

Vulpix is terrific, but I have to give the edge to Growlithe.

Vulpix, but I really love Growlithe, Ponyta, and Litleo too. Even Numel is great.

Fire might be my favorite type when I really think about it.

Yeah I'm planning to, there's nowhere else to put it really!

And yeah poor Sizzlipede lol, but I doubt anything could stand up to the might of gen 1 today.

I remember receiving a Ponyta card as a castoff from a classmate in elementary school, e.g. "do you want this card, it's stupid". I loved it. I collected a few cards like that because I thought the art was neat, and other kids couldn't wait to offload some of the more common cards.

Extremely close between the top 3. Honestly which I prefer probably depends on the day.

Yeah I'm not usually a "GenWunner" but the Gen 1 designs are definitely way better than the rest here lol

Not that all of the others are bad or anything. They're just not as good.

I definitely feel like the second half here is pretty mediocre (even ignoring the monkey)

Gen 1 is miles above everything else, can't wrong with one of those 3.

Id have voted Sizzlipede.

Gen I's are great, I adore Litleo, but Growlithe is my favourite Gen I Pokemon. Best boi for real.

I absolutely love Numel. I don't entirely know why, I just love it. Pansear kinda sucks, though. Overall a pretty great batch, Vulpix is a brilliant design even if I'm not too attached to it.

the Camerupt line is easily the best here but it's gonna lost to freaking Arcanine and Ninetales

Slugma gets some points because in pokemon Amie, he's the one pokemon with no place to pat. If you try to pat him, you immediately burn yourself and a ??? pops above his head

Team Growlithe all day! Vulpix is fine but it's not even close for me, my second choice would be Slugma here. Agree with the majority that gen 1 nailed these though, and the later gens struggle to compete.

Arcanine has pretty much always been my favorite Poke and their smaller form is still a very good boy
