As the main character, it's pretty easily Chris. He's the only character thus far of this list involved with every major event depicted in the series from RE1 - Village, indirectly or not.

Who represents the series the most I feel is a different question with a different answer though. I think Leon or a monster like Nemesis would come to people's minds first.

Jill has all the credentials as a Raccoon City OG, being infected, and having more personality than "oh no my team does again" but since RE5... nothing. Even in that logjam of a RE6 she got shafted.

And let's be real, Leon isn't even the main character in his own stories. He always plays second fiddle to Ada.

Leon is surprisingly unimportant to RE's overarching story, but he still headlines the two most beloved games in the series and has the most charisma out of any playable character. I would be surprised if he wasn't the human face of the franchise for most fans.

Ethan Winters might have actually had a shot if his games were from a 3rd-person perspective. And if he wasn't dead now.

Yeah back in the '90s / early 2000s I could've easily seen Jill becoming a Lara Croft-type popular figure but she just is never included in any games for some baffling reason.
