I kinda agree tbh, I just thought he was never getting lynched and didn't give Ben the respect he deserved after the mild suspicion on him D1. I think that was a bit arrogant, and on reflection Ben absolutely shoulda been an early kill. He was by far the biggest threat to us, aside from the one day in which Red was both active and widely considered Town

Btw I will grant Sbell that he managed to confuse us so much he somehow lived despite me getting a power scan off on him Night1. (That was not a blind roleblock)

I know I was. But that was deliberate. So was me trying to get dysregulated so I'd act like I did four years ago. You'll see in the scum chat that I asked for help several times to avoid a scumslip. Han's special had me conflicted.

If I were town, I'd be calling everyone morons for doing something like that.

But I was scum so I was laughing my ass off instead.

It was rough being scum on my first returning game, didn't really know how to approach things or fake reads convincingly. I hate being scum with an actual useful power past day 1. >_>

Han showed up doing something weird that was obviously a play for reactions. Go reread the end of that day and focus on the Sheep posts. Pulled his vote off of competing lynch, made false claims to push me as the option "Han is too good for this lol", keep in mind that a person I was trying to lynch aside from Plum was being blocked by Sheep, and it becomes apparent.

Oh, here's the real heartbreaker of the game.

BCT had a good game, even if some of the tactics can't be reused, seemed obvious to some but you know, part of the game is killing those people. It was good of you to ask for help as much as you did, gotta play the cards you have.

Ulti - I'll forgive you for the mislynch if you take back what you said about my gut.

I might be wrong but it seemed to me like you were looking to give yourself an ego boost by being the hero of this game, and it caused you to make some plays that weren't thought through.

When you read back through the game and ended up at "Sheep/BCT", it was a collective sigh of relief for us. You do better at analyzing plays over time then you do making gut calls. Came real close to pulling off the game there.

If you/Lea could agree to lynch one of BCT/Sheep, Town very well wins this game.

I also didnt change my claim because I couldnt imagine more power on towns side.

This but for Lea, although I found it a little easier to disguise it by posting my actual thoughts. I still can't read Kirby too well, but I physically cannot comprehend how SBell and Ulti saw what Lea did and went "oh yeah that's the same scum player from last game". We were trying to mislynch her on the final day and I still couldn't bring myself to argue against her because I couldn't think of a single argument that wasn't awful. I don't think Town was bad in general and a lot of y'all (Ulti included! You had the entire thing solved literally today) had the game solidly worked out on a bunch of occasions, but that and the end of D1 felt like you were missing your foot and shooting yourselves in the brain.

So the three things I want to bring to board 8 mafia (and I might as well discuss them now) are three things

1. semi open setups
2. vote restrictions at MYLO
3. no more overtimes

So I think it would be healthy for board 8 mafia if town always knew what it was dealing with in terms of numbers. So if a game is 16 the host would say '12 town vs 4 mafia' or whatever it is. This tells everyone what the score is day 1 and there doesn't have to be confusion if there is mortal danger of losing or not and is just nice.

Secondly, I am a BIG fan of only getting one vote at MYLO and you can't unvote. Announce when MYLO happens that you only get one vote and you can't unvote, and discuss from there. It means you know whatever you do is your final answer and makes you consider it, and it also gets rid of any need to worry about vote hopping. It also if you are organized gives you a sense of how to vote more properly ie "heavily suspected person votes first" and adds strategy

and lastly if the vote is tied it just randomizes. Overtimes have always been kind of trashy tbh and I hate them. If a vote is tied at deadline, you get the randomizer.

Now I thought was a good time to talk about this since the mafia game just ended.

Anyway my champs game went pretty well. I lost, but so did 7/8 of all qual towns as mountainous with certain things going on is really brutal. I played well though and I expect to make the next round based on what everyone has been saying, but I won't know for sure for awhile.

Yeah, rate limit also lynched me.

I still die at night, but one of Chang or MZero is saved from it, and that could have led to a VERY different game.

Sheep did exactly what he needed to do to get on my good side, and that's agreeing with everything I said, lol. I'm never going to want to lynch someone like that.

And as for him manipulating the Han lynch, I guess I didn't hold anything against him because I felt like I was equally manipulating it. Didn't I say something like " if I could lynch anyone right now it would be Han but there's not enough time", and then everyone started saying to kill Han after that. Which was a mistake of course but it was a spur of the chaos moment like Han saying Ulti was scum there.

Good job to sheep and BCT on that last day. I had full confidence town was going to win so.... instead of yelling at non-Kirby/Lea town I'll just congratulate you because you must have done something right!

Honest, a hard deadline is even for everyone. A sudden death that could appear at any moment gives an unfair advantage to some.

also I want us to heavily consider moving to MU for our mafia games. I get people like playing on board 8 but playing with the mod bot of MU for so much of the automation would be so sweet.

And I had to get in my own head with this when I didn't actually know how I'd react as town. My state of mind was complicated but I was trying to be as manipulative as possible without letting anyone catch on... and while being as honest as I could about everything other than my true alignment. Or the fact that I was shooting people with an alien ray gun every night.

...I feel kinda dirty but it's just a game, and it felt good to play something like this again. I may or may not play the next game. Again, I may just do every other one so it doesn't get to be too much for me emotionally.

Also, Plum getting pushed around D1 like he did made me nervous as heck that we weren't gonna get to use his extra kill. If we didn't get that off, we were fucked. We got extraordinarily lucky to kill the Doc, Mayor, and Lie Detector all in one fell swoop. And sorry, MZero. It sucked to kill you like that but it was the best strategic move :/

Sign-ups topic would still be here, and then what I did for my Death Note mafia games was put an update topic on board 8 that just posted end of day votes, the player lists, and the flavor etc. that way people could still be pinged on gamefaqs or get quick access to that information. And that way onlookers could know of its existence in case they missed signups

Randomization sounds a little chaotic. Why not default to which of the tied peeps reached the requisite vote count first?

E.g.:
Person A has 3 votes. Person B has 2 votes. Someone votes Person B. Since Person A was at 3 votes first, Person A gets lynched.

Person A has 4 votes. Person B has 3 votes. Someone unvotes Person A. Since Person B was at 3 votes first, Person B gets lynched.

(Special case)
Person A has 4 votes. Person B has 2 votes. Someone unvotes Person A and votes for Person B. In this case, both Person A and Person B reached 3 votes at the same time. We'll give priority to the unvote here since, otherwise, Person A would have had a majority. So Person A gets lynched.

... Perhaps too systematic and convoluted? I'm sure random selection works well, but losing to RNG never feels good.

Also to be clear, discussing your mental health in a negative way in any mafia game beyond very light touching on it is grounds to be replaced out immediately in my book. If you are feeling bad enough to talk about it, you should get some rest and not worry about mafia. If you are being manipulative about it, I don't want you in my mafia game.

We don't really have a codified set of ethics from game to game but that's my thought in my game.

I might actually have a real one next time, if it's anything like Corrik did to me 4 years ago. (Yesterday was 4 years to the date, according to the Lost Old Games Site). You may have to look for data to tell when I'm legit and when I'm acting. I could not tell you how that works. What happened 4 years ago was 100% legitimate dysregulation.

I'm doing my best to! I know this act will never work again but hey, it worked this time, and I managed to get to the F6 pretty cleanly. And then somehow managed to convince two townies that I couldn't be scum and flipped the vote. I... am kinda impressed with myself , actually. Still can't believe that worked. Once SBell and Ulti both had votes on Lea, BOOM. We had it.

And, yes, my last thought in the scum chat was that since Kirby claimed KaBLaM that he could be a bomb. I don't know how that came to me tbh.
