I wont mention the Balance itself, that was justified to me.
But I do think its kinda mean for scum to create a backup that only works when they manage to mislynch town.

That is fair I should have just picked a back up in general.. considered doing angry beavers as a day vig but I changes my mind and though a surprise angry back up was fun but now I see how that can be an issue in a few ways

Oh and Lea you were fun to watch. I just couldnt say much to you since I wanted to keep you open as a target

This is probably the only game I'm slightly upset about losing. The other games I just got super outplayed, so I was totally okay with losing those lol It's been fun participating in these games, though! I think I'll be spectating the next couple of ones since July/early August are gonna be very busy for me.

I think role meta is our biggest curse

we need more wacky roles to counteract it

Also I mentioned it in scum chat, but my biggest issue with the balance is it was absurdly swingy. I dont think games with god tier powers on both sides are very fun, but it wasnt egregious

Last game was definitely a lesson for me in that regard because I absolutely couldn't figure out a role something that worked like leecher lol.

Stop doing role meta is the lesson to learn.

I think role meta sometimes is ok, but it should be used only in the most blatantly obvious discrepancies

Btw I do like Lie Detector as a role
But it needs some finetuning

Also, this game was probably my last signing up for a while. I think two things have happened over the last few years, I got better as town and stopped enjoying being scum, and that has made me rolling scum a miserable experience for everyone. I nearly replaced out I was so out of it, I just got bailed out where dying was actively beneficial so I smiled and made my death as uneventful as possible.

I think Ill still sign up to replace as replacing in as scum doesnt seem like nearly the same time commitment but Im probably headed on vacation for the time being

Bct says im town it would he a lie

but use

Like player x saying x y z are scum

It be well he thinks that is true.
But if scum were to say some like im scum with Another scum player it come back as true

Its use needs to be calculated its a lie about that player's post not the content of the post

So how ulti and ben wanted to use it to break the role it wouldn't have worked that way

Also to be clear, discussing your mental health in a negative way in any mafia game beyond very light touching on it is grounds to be replaced out immediately in my book. If you are feeling bad enough to talk about it, you should get some rest and not worry about mafia. If you are being manipulative about it, I don't want you in my mafia game.

We don't really have a codified set of ethics from game to game but that's my thought in my game.

I agree with this. A number of posts in this game were quite abusive with this, and it's come up in the other recent games too.

Bct was so obviously scum from my uninformed onlooker perspective. I had very little read on sheep, but was quite impressed with how he manipulated the game in the end.

I had the meta down pretty good. The lesson is dont listen to the wrong people about role meta(I've been pretty on point two games in a row).

Ah, thats what I figured.
Probably just better to make sure it only works on declarations.
"I know they are town, trust me!" would come back as a lie for instance

Also i dont approve of moving mafia off of b8. It loses the attentiveness of just being able to browse b8 to see if the topic is active. It puts our games outside the view of people that might be interested in mafia in the future. It just isn't good for fostering an actual b8 community.

I am gonna sleep now the adrenaline has worn off, but I wanna explain some of my behaviour this game and I also kinda need to rant a bit.

Those of you who've known me since like a decade ago might recall that some personal circumstances led to me having a severe psychotic episode, losing my home and leaving the mafia community for a while (although I mostly played outside of B8 at the time, I'd definitely ran into a good chunk of y'all). At the time I hadn't ever gotten high school level qualifications, and managed to permanently ruin my health to the extent I was hospitalised for a long while before coming back here sporadically as I got my life together.

Long story short, shit happened, and I finished my undergrad back in April. While I expected to pass, I found a couple weeks ago that I'd gotten an absurdly good grade that I'm really proud of (UK universities are weird and like 70% of my final grade was decided by my April assessments so it was honestly kind of a shock). I decided to apply to an amazing post-grad university course because I might actually have a shot, and have not found out whether I've got on yet.

Another long story short, I moved into that university's city today anyway because I don't have a clue what I'm doing with my life and had no idea where I was gonna live in a few weeks. So I'm kinda just praying I'll get on that course and not sure what I'm gonna do if I don't but the alternative to moving was looking like checking myself into hospital and losing any chance at staying independent in the future.

So yeah. Mafia wasn't really the priority the past few weeks. I probably (read: definitely) should have replaced out and it was utterly idiotic not to. I don't think I gave the game the effort it deserved for the position it was in, and I'm kinda sorry to my team (especially considering I bussed most of them to get in my position. like... man, I don't wanna be that guy) and Sultan for that because I know I could have done far better and made the game better overall, even if I tried fuckin hard with what energy I had. I was stubborn and know I woulda kicked myself and felt like shit no matter how it went if I couldn't have some influence over it so stayed in to fuel my ego. I'm really pleased with the outcome (and proud as hell of Andy for how he did! I wish I could have coached him better but he fuckin killed it in a few ways, as evidenced by the result), but I think we got lucky in a lot of ways and I don't think it's good for myself to justify carrying on just because it worked.

All that said, I think I need to be back to emergency replacement for the long-term future, for my own wellbeing and generally ensuring that games are fun. I love Mafia, but it's an unholy combination of stressful, time consuming and a lot of responsibility. I have realised that I semi-intentionally ended up leading the scum team in most of this game as well as part of when I was alive last game (although there were other more vocal players then too) and it's not fair to whoever I'm on any team with if I don't have my shit together. Thank you for listening to my TED talk and I hope that FFD Mafia slaps.

Oh and to criticize plum, his claim set up a situation where the option if we took it at face value was lynch death. After lynching death, plum is forced to reveal a hide that breaks PoE entirely.

It was a losing play all around.

Oh and faking being broken up about serious real life issues is trash tier play.

Also I typed that up a little while ago before the mental health stuff came up, and I kinda agree that it should be kept to a minimum if possible (saying a lot as someone who just said a shitton about life stuff that impacted the game, I know!). Mafia is a mental game and it's obviously going to have some impact, so I think it's difficult to ignore it entirely, but at the same time it's a very sensitive topic and it's difficult to act appropriately when the issue is broached if the best thing for the game might take advantage of or pressure someone who's having a difficult time.

I hope I managed to avoid making too many excuses in-game myself, beyond simply saying "I'm busy af rn". But yeah. Agree with the majority of what Chris said, although I'm a little unsure about moving to MU. Will think more on that tomorrow.

I would like to say yeah id probably not play mafia off b8 I did thst for I think a Ben game and I want to crazy about it

Congratulations on your graduation and good luck on the future plans! It's been fun playing with you but I'm also happy that you're working to put your health and wellbeing first. It's really tough without making it the number one priority.

I didnt see that, yeah thats not good.

I had fun being scum because it was a new experience for me. We'll see how that holds up in future games; it may become tiring, especially since I don't have the outlet I had this time.

Ulti, I'm sorry for playing you like that, but like you said: It's just a game. That's all I was doing, playing a game. I will admit I wanted you alive at endgame because you were advocating for me so this could happen.

Sheep, I hope everything will be okay! You were a great ally to have and we couldn't have won this without you. You were helpful in coaching me (as were Death and Plum) and I might have slipped without the help I got. I hope you can get things in order and get back to playing soon. But yeah, life is more important. I get it.

I may pay the next one but I have to think it over. If I play that one, I'll be off for the next one. For my own sanity. FFD Mafia is highly recommended, yes?

What are you taking about? I was just informing people why I wasn't commenting earlier. That's what I usually do if people are expecting me to say something. It wasn't a sympathy thing. It was a state of mind thing. Excuse me for being honest.
