As long as I am not the one driving I don't mind any. I've taken bus and plane, but I'm missing train and cruise. Although, I do enjoy boats, so I think I would enjoy a cruise.

I mean, it kinda depends on how far I'm going, right?

Anyways, I live in MN and - while I like it here - there's not a ton in the states immediately surrounding us. I would drive to Chicago, or the Black Hills, or St Louis, or maybe Denver (although that's borderline). Anything further than that and I want a plane. All I see on the drive is corn unless I drive north to lake country so I don't feel I'm missing anything.

My agency has a small 6-seat commuter plane, and I happily use that to fly to meetings in the northern part of the state when available, too: I don't need two 5-hour drives.

Cruises are fine, but I don't like the 'organized fun' they try to force on you.

That's more or less what mine boils down to, although I'd drive a little further if it's somewhere I'm planning on staying for a while and would want a car (i.e. the Rocky Mts).

Flying Nimbus. When that isn't available, I'd rather take a train... but because the US's train system is the shits, I have to take an airplane.

I generally avoid travel, especially these days.

I'd say train, but Canada's train infrastructure (especially out east) is even worse than America's, so that generally means paying as much as I would to fly to take 10-15 times longer (Halifax to Montreal is a 1.5-hour flight, a 12-hour drive, or a 23-hour train ride). Conceptually, I like trains much better than flying, just because flying is such a miserable experience (the actual experience of being in the air is fine, but the seats are rarely comfortable, planes tend to be ridiculously crowded, security delays and overbookings make actually getting to the plane a stressful hassle, and I'm pretty much constantly worried about any checked baggage), but the infrastructure just isn't there to treat them as a viable alternative to even driving, let alone flying.

Boats are kind of a special case. I like taking ferries well enough and will gladly do so to give me a break if the price/comfort/convenience factor is right, but they're generally an intermediate step in a longer car trip, rather than being the primary mode of travelling. Cruises are different, of course (which is what you actually asked), but I've never taken a cruise and therefore don't really have a frame of reference for that except a general dislike of cruise ship people. That's perhaps based on an unfair, biased sample consisting of the many clueless tourists I've seen living in a city with a major harbour for most of my life (and my girlfriend's worked in several museums and faced the real brunt of their idiocy, so she's got it even worse), but it's all I've got.

Driving by reason that I can go shopping at thematic stores, order at a novel restaurant, or go at a pace where I adore every minute of the lands. I like fast travel through places unsettled but I save those for work wherein I must hit the city not a minute late, for I won't regret missing out.

I hate driving but enjoy travelling by car 'cause you get to see a lot as you go. So I imagine going somewhere by train would be pretty nifty. I've been in a plane once (well like four different planes between flying there and then back) and it's pretty cool. I enjoyed the experience but the whole rigmarole before and between flights is not fun.

And a cruise seems dumb. It's a big floating hotel where all you can see is water.

If you pick the right one you stop in some interesting spots that you likely wouldn't have gone to otherwise: I enjoyed the 'shore excursions' on my Alaskan cruise.

That said, the big organized-fun, germ-spreading party boat thing isn't for me. Trips to the Dominican/etc are cheap: just go to a nice/gated all-inclusive there if you want to sit around in the sun.

Also this, especially cycling (though not so much these days because I'm recovering from a broken elbow). Heck, I'd gladly cycle longer distances on a regular basis if the infrastructure were there to do it without having to trust speeding cars to not hit me, but North America is owned by oil lobbyists, so everything's designed around cars and the best I can do is use trails if I want to go more than a few km.
