I can confirm it was. Part of it was to make silly references and then "oh shit they took this seriously" occurred with the mayonnaise.

Do one more game and then we can probably host assuming Plums schedule allows.

That does sound like fun.

Personally, I'm far busier after Christmas than before it, outside of Halloween and Thanksgiving weekends. But it obviously depends on how everyone else is.

It's all good. I definitely had fun the last game and would be up for playing more of them but it's a good performance to go out on.

It was also a little frustrating having so many town basically AFK either literally or mentally and that is a sign we probably need a break as much as anything.

Yeah, I'm good with a break. November is usually the busiest time of the semester.

I am good with a break. 3 months is long but the 3 months is like the busy 3 month

I also have no problems with it.

After Christmas is a long time, but a break is fine besides that.

Maybe we should have a Discord server for just the Mafia crew? We can keep the queue in there, ping people when sign-ups are posted, and even give everybody their own role so we can do scum and/or dead town chats in there if hosts want to.

Okay, maybe not that last one, but we all use Discord for those, so I thought maybe I'd suggest it. I can create it if you guys want!

I don't think Mafia really needs to take a break. We probably will be able to get the numbers for a similarly sized game as the previous one

I, personally, will be taking a break regardless as I anticipate busy times ahead of me until after the first half of December. As much as I enjoy Mafia, it's a time commitment, and when I'm already so distractable, I ought to be a bit more responsible and focus on my work.

That being said, spectating games blindly is fun, so I'll surely be keeping tabs on any ongoing games.

Also, a Discord server for our ragtag gang sounds like a great idea!

Eh, Im already in like 18 discord servers. Not super interested in another one.

I don't see such a section, which is why I suggested we do our own thing, and having our own server would let us utilize multiple channels instead of just one. That and some people still don't want Ulti in there. We need all of us in one place.

Joining is optional, of course, but I think I'll make it as a sort of home base. Give me an hour or two and I'll post the invite - I'm just waking up and haven't yet had my coffee.

I can delete this if "everyone involved" is okay with Ulti rejoining the main B8 server and we can have a queue post pinned or whatever. But right now, that's an "if" and AFAIK it's kind of a big one.

The way I was thinking this could work is we have dead town and scum chats for each game there, and to prevent anyone playing from knowing the full truth, the host of each game gets to be the server admin until the next game starts, when they pass the torch. That may be more trouble than it's worth vs just creating a new server, but it's an idea that's out there.

If people are hesitant to host right now, I have an experimental game idea I wanted to try.

No votes during Day. After the conclusion of the day, people submit votes at night. Mafia kills someone as usual, with a clause to prevent them from killing the lynch choice. Maybe they get told of who gets killed two hours before dawn.

At start of day, the previous day's lynch result is revealed along with the votes. And the nightkill is shown as well.

I was also thinking 24 hour days just to shake things up.

Probably an open set-up otherwise.

What do people think?

I'm willing to play mafia in any case if it's still running. The games are fun and I think I've found a balance of activity that works to be enough to engage with the game but not so much that it consumes me.

I mean a break sounds nice but you know me I can't say no to mafia apparently

I'm not sure about the 24 hour days. There were occasions in the last game where I wasn't able to be active for an entire day, so forcing activity that could jeopardize my social life doesn't sound appealing to me. I'm going to pick what's happening in real life every time.

The rest of that idea sounds interesting - it's basically a cross between Survivor and Mafia.

It is dumb. But I'm curious to see how the dynamic of a game changes when you remove vote pressure.

24 hour days would be because I don't want to ask people to give that big of a percentage of their time to the game, but could figure out an alternative.

I didn't know that. Whoops. That's pretty stupid, and I'm sorry to hear you're being treated like that too. So, that settles it - we're doing our own server. Later today, I'll throw together a logo, give everyone their role, and streamline things a little!
