I remember getting out of the shower before school and my mom was watching the news in the living room. I thought it was a movie and didn't really pay attention at first until my mom said we were under attack. I remember my mom being really nervous in the drive to school, then walking into class everyone was talking about the news. About 30 minutes into the school day they brought everyone into the cafeteria and we drew/colored flags with the national anthem and pro-America songs playing in the background. Went home to watch pokemon only for breaking news on every station. Aftermath was my one middle Eastern classmate got shunned by a lot of other kids.

I was in fifth grade and mostly just remember being annoyed that the TV didn't show my usual after-school shows. We didn't have cable.

Graduated high school that summer

Sleeping in bed that morning on west coast time. It started super early from west coast perspective so I think many people were asleep at first. My mom woke me up and told me "something is happening on the news"

I get up and see a building on fire or whatever. I think the first tower had already fallen by the time I saw the news. I might have seen tower 2 fall. I can't remember

Rest of my family went to work and school and I stayed home alone all day talking online with people and watching cnn

I took the bus to school (in California), and when I got there, my friend was like, "they blew up the Pentagon!"

so, for first period, we watched the news.

I think there were some grief service kinda stuff, but since we were so far from the attack, I don't know if anyone took advantage of it.

later that year, a bunch of the seniors joined the military, iirc.

first week or two of highschool. we were a high-tech school with TVs in every room, but admin chose to withhold the information from students. absolutely gutless move, and i hope the decision makers regret that.

I was like 8 and at home watching TV when the news came on and reported it. I didn't exactly understand and my dad explained to me how bad it was with 3d models and everything.

Actually pretty traumatic.

I had signed up the be a library assistant during my study hall period in high school. Which sounds stupidly nerdy, but the real reason was because the library had a small computer room with internet access that assistants were allowed to use when we weren't helping find/put away books. The entire school basically just stopped and everyone sorta went and found their friends and watched the TV for the rest of the day. My friend and I were in the computer room when it happened, and he had an account on here, so we pretty much spent the rest of the school day talking on CE and LUE about what was going on. When I got home that night, I made my own account to keep talking.

It was just a normal school day for me. I was in 4th grade so no one even mentioned it at school. When I came home my mom told me my dad was ok since he was on a business trip. That confused me until I learned about what happened.

I always wish I would have gotten to watch and learn what was happening at school like a lot of others did, but I understand not wanting to worry a bunch of elementary school students.

West coast, was living on a military base. The news was on as my older sister and I were eating breakfast and when she pointed out the plane crash stuff to my mom, my mom insisted it was like the war of the worlds broadcast. And if it actually was real, that was across the country so it shouldn't affect us. Not long after my older sister and I headed out to the bus stop.

Now, as you can probably imagine the gates in and out of the military base were shut down as tight as they ever possibly could be. Nobody was getting in or out except on priority business so only the most important ranking officers who lived off base.

Like 40 minutes after the usual pickup time my older sister and I were 2 of like 6 kids left at the stop. The rest had gone home by then. Mom told us to go back and keep waiting. She was busy getting ready to head out to work.

An hour more passed and no bus. We ended up heading to the house of a neighbor kid who was still waiting with us that whole time since her parents were both gone.

Eventually my mom showed up and was yelling at us for not telling her where we were. Ugh. There's more but mostly it was just the memory of breakfast and waiting for the bus.

Pretty much, it happened Sept 2021 and was in Army basic training the end of October. My dad worked in Manhattan for most of his life, we moved to PA when his office was moved to Philadelphia. He didn't work at the trade center itself, but it spooked me enough that the "untouchable USA" could have its civilians attacked like that, regular people just went to work that day and never left.

I was working. The internet basically stopped working, you couldnt get anything to load. A guy had a radio so we listened to them describe what was happening. At lunch they rolled in a tv. Then they released us early.
