They also killed off Iron Hide, Prowl, and Ratchet too. It pissed quite a few kids off, me included. They did it to sell more toys. --- Intel 486, Integrated videocard, 16MB RAM, 64MB HD, 3 1/4 inch floppy ... Copied to Clipboard!

I respect that they had the guts to do that, even though the higher-ups really only saw them as just toys. Still led to some good emotional moments and storytelling. --- Fifty years from now when you're looking back on your life, don't you want to say you had the guts to get in the car? ... Recently a 1984 script surfaced that was written even before the cartoon premiered. That one also killed off Optimus. The script had various drafts with different kills (and methods) before they finalized on the one animated. Some scenes in the final film come from an earlier draft too, which is why we see two Cyclonuses being made. Yeah everything was done to change up what was in stores.
