You're in the minorities of minorities there then. Slog is the last word I'd expect from even the harshest of Suikoden II detractors (which again are very rare) used to describe the game. Understandable if turn-based JRPGs aren't your thing but then your very next sentence describes the original as better. The original has breezy pacing and a short game length. 2 has a slower pace and almost double the game length. That's why I consider it a slog. It's also worth noting that when I played 1, I went into it with medium expectations. When I played 2, it was after 15 years of hearing people gush about how Suikoden II was this landmark JRPG with an incredible storyline.
