Sena is my personal favorite, but even I acknowledge that Eunie is an unbeatable #1 best party member in all of XBC.

It was to be expected when most are relegated to sidequests.
A few of those ones stand out personality-wise, though they dont get much to do. (and others only have a cool design: RIP Medusa lady)
Really the only ones I feel could have gotten more focus were X and Y.

I got really bored during chapter 3 and I tried pressing on to get to 5 because people say it's cool, but I dropped off again mid 4. Should I pick it up again or just watch it on youtube?

No, they absolutely should've done a better job with the consuls.

I just realized you need the hero in your party to cause ascension quests to spawn. Welp.

It took me a long time to accidentally figure that out.

Man these Consul powers are all so extremely plot device-y but the game still manages to pull it all off. Less successfully with Consul Y but still. i feel like I wrote off Bleach early on because it made no sense how that show handled dying in the afterlife, but when xenoblade pulls the same shit Im too invested to worry about logic

like theres no real background or setup for how the end of ch5 is possible, the game just expects you to go along with the half-assed explanation it gives after the big reveal and Im totally strapped in and ready to receive.

It's kind of hard to tell because so few Consuls actually have enough development, but it seems like they're largely thematic in a sense.

For instance in the case of M: M was forced to become Moebius against her will by N, so M's Moebius power robs people of their agency via her possessing them.

B: Fancy kicks (and blocking healing abilities, the bastard)
J: Random ass Mud Puppets
M: Body possession
S: Stopping Time
V: Zombies!
.....
D: Motion detectors with not even all that impressive a range.

I feel like someone got ripped off

The timing of giving you this final hero is a little odd and unceremonious compared the two more meaningful heroes you unlock immediately before through gigantic story beats.

manages to infiltrate the City as mobius and seemingly cause mass havok and terror.

everyone in the City immediately forgets it happened and all the destruction is instantly cleaned up the moment you finish the sidequest.

i spoke to Monica right after finishing the sidequest and the first thing out of her mouth wasnt even about what just happened, but about the other sidequest I finished earlier involving jansen.

Origin and just beat X. Had to save and go run some errands after the battle but rather than the typical cutscene, she just said something like I dont want to die! And is glowing white but not actually disappearing. Im able to run around her while she holds the pose lol.

Im assuming theres a story beat right when I leave the room but still funny.

I couldn't even really remember where I knew those two from. I think one of them was in Eunie's side story, but they were overall so unimportant and Moebius is such a blah group that blends together in a super unmemorable way.

I would say that's a little reductive. The world, the system, all of that has better presence than the members of Moebius themselves.

Sometimes I think Moebius would be better if they had just about no individuality. That way, they're just a force rather than being just some dudes.

I had the same experience, X just stayed there twinkling but Y disappeared. It was pretty funny.
