Blitzball in FFX, I never did any of it other than the mandatory match. I was surprised seeing people praise Wakka's limit when it turns out it was tied to Blitzball, I was stuck using the lame elemental reels every time I played.

A lot of action games have tons of combos and weapons or whatever, but you can realistically beat the game by just spamming a light attack.

When that's the case, I tend to do that.

My impression is that it's actually a well-made board game, but it's way too complex for a side mini-game in an open world action.

I mostly ignore crafting in RPGs.

especially if what you're crafting for starts requiring all of these unique items that you only get after having to kill rare enemies.

Does learning of a hidden mechanic and choosing to ignore it count? If so, Magnificence in Enter the Gungeon. I got good enough at the game that I just don't fail runs anymore regardless of any extra chambers(mostly just the rat that's hard), and when I found out about Magnificence it sounded like it would just make my runs boring and a bit easier.

I went through the whole tutorial and found it interesting enough. Finished out a couple easy players.

Then I got to the first intermediate one, was utterly dominated, and just went, "Nah." I found a strategy on reddit that apparently trivializes the game with an overpowered piece, so I'll probably do that later on.

Crafting. Pretty universally.

Using mox/magic in Inscryption

Those Naruto ninja storm games have a bunch of wacky jutsu you can use but you can also win every battle by mashing triangle so i just do that.

But Creature Creator is so fun.

Anyway, to answer the question, parrying in like every Soulsbornering game. Ill say that in Bloodborne, I think I learned to parry like one or two attacks for the final final boss, because I was sort of lower level, and felt like I needed it.

Most all other side mini games such as machine strike and that one dice game in AC Valhalla.

Recently played GoW Ragnarok, and I only used about half of the skills you can learn. Lol I honestly just forget all the moves that are available and I tend to stick to a few combos that work well.

Cards in FF8. Easier to just manually draw magic than learn the basic rules and then try to manage the rule variations.

Rock/Paper/Scissors mechanics in action games. Ain't got the reaction time for them most if the time anyway.

IVs in pokeymans. The most I'll do about them is hyper training or whatever when available. Breeding. Too much party management, even in SV. Sammiches. Raids.

Elements in Monster Hunter. I will bonk the monster on its head until it dies. I'm not gonna look up the right element for each part of each monster or try to reconcile the weaknesses of each monster on multi-monster quests.
