Game Informer - 9.25/10
Developer Respawn Entertainment clearly took a measured and thoughtful approach to analyze what worked and what didnt in its last Star Wars game, and Jedi: Survivor feels like a worthy attempt at evolution. It captures the magic of Star Wars as well as anything in the current canon, and its a stellar adventure in its own right. Still, nailing the fantasy of being a Jedi? Doesnt hurt.

GameSpot - 8/10
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds on the already-winning formula of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order by making Cal Kestis a more powerful and resourceful Jedi Knight, while also upping the stakes and the challenges he's facing. Exhilarating lightsaber combat and physics-defying platforming puzzle challenges remain the best part of Respawn's latest Star Wars game, but Survivor also makes big swings with its story this time around. Cal's quest takes him to new corners of the galaxy, but the most compelling journey he makes is an introspective one. Survivor is a very well-written tale about overcoming fear, and it's the Jedi story I've wanted for a long time.

Easy Allies - 9/10
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is an excellent sequel that expands upon the strengths of its predecessor and introduces great new ideas. Exploration is engaging, and visiting each of its vast and detailed locations is a pleasure. Combat is satisfying with some solid new additions, and its story keeps you invested until the end. It's a fantastic sequel and one of the best Star Wars games around.

IGN - 9/10
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes what Fallen Order achieved and wall-runs with it, then double-jumps and air-dashes straight into an epic lightsaber battle. Rather than taking us back to square one to begin Cals journey as a Padawan again, were trusted with control of a full-fledged Jedi Knight who we can grow into a master of superhuman mobility and fantastic and challenging combat. With a new set of larger, more diverse, and densely packed worlds to explore and a memorable cast of returning characters, Survivor tells a story that may be predictable but is still fun and at times emotional to watch play out. Launch performance issues aside, its a sequel that does virtually everything better than the original which was already an exceptional Star Wars game. If Respawn makes one more like this itll complete the best Star Wars trilogy in 30 years, hands down.

Hm, I've seen almost zero promotional material for this thing (not even a second of gameplay has crossed my eyes outside of whatever they showed during the game awards), so I kind of assumed they were putting out something mid. Good to hear that's not the case!

The original was so middle of the road, never really reaching the line that made it feel worth it. Seems like this one more of the same but slightly better which might not be enough to get it over that line.

Like did it actually succeed at this, or only attempt? Very cagey wording on these reviews

First one had an 82. My main problem with it was how it felt bad to play, especially exploration.

The first game was an absolute drag in both combat and exploration, and it ruined a lot of the more engaging bits like the story and level design. I'd be willing to give this a shot, but unless they refined those bits, I can't imagine it's worth playing. Sucks that the movement is so bad when the developer created some of the greatest movement in 3D gaming with Titanfall 2.

I'm surprised, I didn't realize there was any animosity towards the first game.

It was the only Soulslike adjacent game not made by FromSoft I've ever liked, and I don't even care about Star Wars!

The only bad thing about the first game was the lack of fast travel so revisiting planets to find stuff you missed was monotonous.

And I guess it was lame that you'd unlock a staff or dual sabers but they're only used in certain moves. But this game fixes that too!

I loved that it felt like an old school PS2 AA game in quality. But actually playing it wasn't great.

I found it reasonably good, not barely acceptable. Lack of fast travel is the big problem, and lack of QA is highly visible. It's a good base for a sequel to improve on.

This was basically my experience with it. Super janky, but fun with a likeable cast of characters. And yeah, some of the maps were so sprawling that a lack of fast travel made backtracking a chore.

The final boss was bullshit though. I was playing on the hardest difficulty though, which didnt help.

The first game was very good so I'm excited to eventually get around to this one at some point. When the price drops probably or its free on ps+...so not for a while.

The first game was flawed, but it had a surprising amount of heart for a corporate AAA title, so I enjoyed it. Glad the sequel seems to be an improvement.

Ay caramba
Well, it's not surprising. I'm glad the PS5 comes with at least somewhat more storage than the PS4.

I decided to start up the first game (got it free on PS+ when it was on there a few months ago) and finished the first world. The gameplay and the story are pretty fun, but wow, trying to traverse the map felt like a chore. I kept circling around and around getting back to the ship after finishing the main mission.

First hour and a halfish impressions are mostly solid. Two real nitpicks:

1, Honestly you should turn on the option for navigation guidance, because it's really easy to just not have a clue where to go. The people who complained about the yellow paint in RE4R are morons.

2, Game still stuggles sometimes to keep it at 60 in performance. It's MOSTLY fine, but sometimes it stutters down to below 30 even. Thankfully the is primarily during setpiece stuff and not combat.

This happens with so many big budget games on PC nowadays, I wonder what the causation is that links them together?
