Really both dad's in this suck. Adoptive dad eventually abandons his daughter he has raised to go be with his secret second family. The first thing he says to his bio daughter when meeting her is literally "you are my only daughter". This after raising a girl for like 10 years. This is of course treated as a good and logical decision that nobody really blames him for. Just the message of it as far as blood vs adoption really upset me.

okay I've finished dealing with things regarding today's update and communicating across the family with what's going on - but it is SO MUCH FUCKING WORSE than expected hence the oh my fucking gods

so yeah early this morning just before 10am I was woken up by gmom calling me that gbro's arrested again. no surprise, frankly expected. gmom then is trying to get everyone communicate that police will be calling gdad (as they already called gmom) since they are both on surety for him (aka gbro is SUPPOSED to be staying with us but evidently he isn't) so they're gonna be asking what's up with that

okay sure that's it he just broke his conditions we thought. but oh hey listen to the voice mail and something sticks out to me - they say they have arrested gbro, and that in doing so they looked him up and saw that he was on surety....... so is that not what he was specifically arrested for here, but catch? anyways gdad gets the call asking about it and they don't give an answer, they just say gbro confessed to whatever (gdad assumes braking bail), and they ask if he's been staying here. says he can't give the details of exactly what happened yet or about any additional release, gdad will get a second call about it later.

regroup with the family discuss what's going on okay i'mma grab a shower now. before I'm out I have gmom and gsis calling at me so I get out and call gmom and they're just talking about how gbro can be released again, but gmom her partner won't be signing up as a surety again, and no bail. also gmom's done paying his rental. advising that yeah this time this is the mess gbro made and he's gotta lie in it, otherwise it will just get messier. thank god I say, been saying all along.

then gdad comes in. he sees me on the phone with gmom about it, he asks if we heard. heard what? we're all confused....... gdad got a second call from the officer while he was out, given more detail that we weren't yet privy to. this charge is completely unrelated to the original. this is about gbro getting drunk in august and making out with with drunk girls at pizza pizza - who were fifteen and sixteen years old. oh my fucking god it's a completely separate charge about sexually assaulting minors.

family regrouping again, but oh wait gdad's getting a call so it's just the rest of us, me gmom gsis have a video call to update WHAT THE FUCK this is about, although I'm unfortunately pulled away from the convo because gdad needs my help understanding the instructions he's getting from the officer to sign up for gbro's new surety and bail him out monday. gdads just so stubbornly locked on to "he's my son and no matter what shit he's caused I can't leave him in jail" and that's where we are. I try to tell him that even if he does this gbro simply WILL break conditions and go to toronto again and continue snowballing the mess he's in while costing all of us further money, but gdad won't hear it.

so yeah

given that we just went through this whole process 3 weeks ago, we can assume that when gdad bails him out we'll get a second terms of release that writes out the name of the charge(s), what orders he must abide by, and his scheduled court dates. on top of the court date he still has scheduled for the other thing which is later this month

the release is just until his charges are actually dealt with, if guilty he could still face jail time - and now this one is a second thing that could do him in. it helps that he miraculously doesn't have any criminal history (well, he did as a juvenile but that's gone), but I can't imagine all these multiple charges throughout the year are any good

just about everyone here is saying this now except for gdad still holding on to the empty-headed belief of "I can't my son stay in prison"

which is soooo avoiding the actual truth of this scenario because prison would not only free ourselves from his ongoing disaster, but it's in all honesty the best thing for gbro himself. last time he was bailed out he spent the whole night talking about how he bonded with the other prisoners and how good they were to him.

keep him out in the real world and he's just going to continue imploding. we JUST went through this and he was a monster and continued to flagrantly ignore any rules. all this does is let him keep fucking destroy himself, keep teaching him life has no consequences, keep the family in a state of terror, and he's clearly a very real danger to others.

gmom brings up how he's on hard drugs and yeah I'd believe although i do think gmom is desperate to find a "reason" other than his own ass personality to latch onto and blame solely on. but he absolutely is blowing all of his money in the first week of a month despite not even paying his own rent, he isn't eating, and prison could very well force him off the drugs, leave his bank account alone, and have him fed. to take him out of this is frankly damaging himself, our family, and the general public now

ps: "fun" detail is remembering early in the story I said the first phone call gdad was told gbro already confessed - at the time, we all just assumed this was solely about breaking release conditions. now remember that part when fastforwarding to the reveal that it's a completely separate charge regarding minors. he always had a really BAD history in his teen years but yeah he generally recovered into a decent or relatively normal person after high school - well, like his 4th or 5th high school after getting expelled from a bunch. the one to finally graduate him was an adult high school where students just come in to do their tests and get the list of stuff to study for the next chapter (you can choose to study in classrooms but really you could just do everything home) so it's completely separate from the normal social high school life. this was great for gbro, he got to buckle down and do his work and he graduated, entering university pretty normal. he even got the high school's Founders Award for becoming such a model student!

(I actually ended up going to that adult school too, not for the same reasons of course, but because I actually graduated HS early via summer school but then I realized i needed to take another math course to apply for ontario unis, whoops)

undergrad yeah he's been pretty "normal", no major disasters, he had one steady gf pretty much throughout who did a lot for him but frankly he just never really respected her, would regularly make fun of her weight, so it was no big deal to him when he eventually broke it off

a couple girlfriends later and now on his Masters, he found one he really liked, and this time a less nerdy, more mainstream kind of normal person with conventionally attractive looks, a full career, more his age and mature. our parents were happy with her and everything. I don't remember the details but she would eventually break it off and that was gbro's first major self-destruction since his high school days. he physically stalked and harassed her for months desperate to get back together. literally scaled her apartment and she found him on the balcony. she very well could have had him reported for the shit he did, but that career I mentioned? she works with kids with autism so she felt she understood gbro has his problems, she had a good relationship with our mom who could talk about it, so ultimately they managed to cut things off without legal action

a couple girlfriends later again he finds someone he really likes, again. this time they're both already in relationships, gbro immediately dumps the person he's with but the other girl stays in her relationship for half a year leaving gbro to bitch and moan about it. but whatever, they eventually get together and this time but oh no she isn't put together herself either. what gbro likes in fact, is how childish she is, how they bond over a shared hobby of trolling, but the worst bit is he doesn't understand that he's actually part of the joke to her, not a partner.

this is basically when COVID started which you'll remember gbro kept stealing gdad's car at night to go to her place hours away, and eventually crashed it in a ditch. gbro really wanted to be around her but given the time he couldn't and both of them were staying with family. I'm mainly trying to get this background in to expand on what a joke he was - because one of the proposals he made was writing a letter to to the girls parents, a proposition for him to live in their treehouse, including an idea that he could dig holes to poop in. obviously insane to anyone, but gbro was dead serious and said he's been asking experts about it. the girl as well would laugh her ass off about it - because I mean YEAH THAT'S INSANE - but what gbro's brain couldn't fathom is that he was the joke. eventually with gmom's help he got a place nearby her location but they never actually got together and she quickly broke up with him, sparking another round of extreme stalking and harassment behaviour. The big moment for me is what I've personally witnessed, like half a year after their break-up, that gbro was complaining that hotmail kept doing bot tests on him because he was making so many accounts, which made me look at what he's doing which was creating all these accounts to send threatening emails to the girl demanding her to respond because he can always reach her.

but yeah this is all well into his COVID era at this point where he's been locked into anti-vaxx podcasts and pretty much everyone saying thing things he wants to hear thus buying into their full package of evil liberal elites trying to criminalize being a white man garbage, the Jordan Peterson and Russell Brand era (engulfed in a Discord group of like-minded peers), and the next girl he met was this Russian nationalist nutjob he met around the Freedom Convoy stuff, who's greatest fear is CRT reaching Russia, and this toxic ass psycho relationship has gotten him into violent white supremacist groups who publicly start altercations with minorities, this is all in the friend group with this convoy girl. Of course in this latest bit of news we can add pedophiles to their descriptor, because these friends were with him during that incident.

being honest though the right-wing culture war shit is very much stuff he was receptive to in his dreaded high school past, he was absolutely one of those NuAtheists who got into Sam Harris race science and the Bell Curve so this new position is more like reigniting his past. he was also one of those "edgy teens" who intentionally try to mimic school shooters like Columbine to get a reaction, he loved going to high school in a black trench coat in part for that reason - ditto with nazi trolling. so yeah, this new phase is just the ultimate realization of the younger self that he had a temporary decade-long break from

Update on the bail out situation?

nothin' yet, gdad's waiting for the jailhouse to send a zoom link to hammer it out but nobody's heard anything about it yet

lmao, gdad just screwed up pretty hard

so he's supposed to have been suspecting a call all day, though gdad has class at 5:30 (it's his only hobby)

4pm comes around and hasn't heard anything yet so gdad just goes to his class - reminder: a class he takes purely as a hobby - actually reminder #2 the class actually STARTS at 5:30 but he always leave super early because he has extreme anxiety about messing things up

while he's in the car is when the courthouse messages him the zoom link & passcode but gdad has his phone off while driving and doesn't even notice until he stops, at which point he just drives back home for me to put him in the zoom meeting. which I do, but his hearing is over and the zoom link is a new meeting

according to voicemail they called around 4:25 saying they can wait 5-10 minutes but gdad didn't get home for me to help until 4:46 (aka 21 minutes later)

now gmom's on the phone trying to sort things out because gdad is useless with this stuff

I was planning to restock my voucher for Wonder + SMRPG... but this way hmm now I'm considering getting SMRPG physical just because it's an especially iconic game to do so.... saves me the full restock

also i forgot if Another Code is a full priced game or not (just checked it is). that's basically my main consideration for vouchers so hm okay that's a consideration.
