I remember it being awkward. You need to go onto the PS4 version, go the main menu and select 'Upload save' and choose 1 save file to upload. Then go onto the PS5 version, go the main menu and select 'download save'.

If you have multiple saves you want to carry over you have to do them one at a time.

Oh so I have to install both versions just so I can upload a PS4 save first?

I'm surprised the Digital Deluxe Editions are the only ones that get the preorder bonuses. Not finding anything about extra summons or whatever in the physical one. My PS5 only has a 500 GB hard drive, so I can't do digital everything. Should probably look into expanding that internally, since they won't allow PS5 games on my external drive

Digital and physical take up the same amount of space for PS5 games, since they fully install. If you have a disc version and buy the digital you won't even need to reinstall to play discless (unlike on PS4).

Set aside your feelings for how the main plot unraveled. Is this a big part of the picture? Yes, but try!

Did you not enjoy the increased dynamics between the cast? The incredible amount of banter? The high-def visualization of legendary locations? The engaging battle system that blends turn-based and action-based in a satisfying manner? The kickass soundtrack?

Of course, I just spun each of those in a positive direction - because I feel quite positive about each of them. But I think what's happening here is that, while not everyone is aboard for the goofiness the story may hit upon, many players are fan enough of the overall package.

What do you mean by stupid? 90s JRPG stupid - obviously not just you, that's the whole point of the game. But too stupid to enjoy, probably just you. The only harmfully stupid thing was the Kingdom Hearts bullshit, but it was very minor and if that's what it takes to keep Nomura's ego in check, it's worth it.

(Also I would argue the KH BS did actually improve the experience of the game. But we'll have to see how part 2 turns out to know for sure.)

I played the original FF7 through probably a dozen times, and I love the remake more than Ive ever loved the original, which is surprising since I miss the days of turn based combat. I didnt really care about anyone in the original cast aside from acid and Vincent, and I like everybody so far.

None of the bad stuff from 7R is in this trailer!

7R had a pretty big mix of good and bad. The worst of it was the incredibly slow pacing in several chapters, and with this being nearly 100 hours, I'm not sure Square's learned their lesson in that respect.

I feel like pacing should be a much smaller issue in this one because of the variety of places you go to. Midgar is a very narratively packed and has few slow parts. The rest of the game is a more leisurely adventure.

Remake had slow pacing by design because you were turning a 5 hour segment in the original game into a 40 hour one

I wouldn't read much into that 100-hour thing, y'all know how this stuff tends to go. I've found very few directors/producers who seem to gauge this stuff accurately per the general consensus. (Yoshida's one of them!)

Plus, I get the impression it's 100 hours to do everything the game's got to offer. And since they've said there's about twice as much side content as there is main story, it's safe to say they've done far more on that side of the equation than with Remake, yeah.

I dunno, I suspect most people will beat the main story in about 30-40 hours!

I thought FF7R was incredible, but I also just don't like the original so any feelings of "damaging the narrative" mean absolutely nothing to me, lol.

My only worry, yet again, is that they do keep showing more stuff that looks big open world sections of the game, and boy do I not want that to happen. I realize that is to be expected considering the original opened up here....but I at least hope they don't add a bunch of collectible hunting or other crap like that on the map.

i am so ridiculously excited for all of this. even the stupid bullshit. maybe especially the stupid bullshit.

this has perfectly summed up my thoughts on the first game. outside of the nomuraisms of it all, this really felt like a high definition version of the game i played as a kid.

Guessing I have to get a PS5 now... just for this. Looks incredible. The deluxe edition is probably what I'll have to get because a new console is already enough cost. (I'm hoping we get the beach costumes from Ever Crisis...)

I sure wish that bundle with free Remake was also on Steam.

They might do it when the timed exclusivity for PS5 is up, who knows

To all the folks who keep saying Nomura is the source of all the weird fuckery in FF7R (which ngl I actually enjoy,) it's been stated before that Nomura and Hamaguchi were both advocates for FF7R being a more faithful remake but the newer blood pushed to spice things up, and they ended up loving the idea.

I know people love to just NOMURA BAD whenever plot stuff gets a little too kooky but he's not remotely as influential on a lot of the stuff people give him flak for recently as people would seem to like to believe. (Like for example he also barely had anything to do with Stranger of Paradise's plot - which also kicks ass btw - beyond the barest and vaguest concept of the story)

I think the Remake-for-free dealio clocks out and the bundle becomes $99.99 USD on the day of release, so it would be really nice of them to do it for Steam afterward - which is why I doubt it happens, unfortunately.

We'll see.

Right, Kitase is the one who pushed hardest, and Nomura and Hamaguchi actually pushed back. Toriyama as well, possibly.

I think it's hard to fight the term 'Nomuraism' in 2023, tho.

I just want Nomura to give characters more belts

I've only played Remake on PS4. No Intergrade. Might be worth replaying that before Rebirth - it's among my favorite games ever.

Also do I pre-order from Square for that? (I'm honestly thinking I get that statue, lol)

I think it's purely a PlayStation Store thing. So, if you get the Collector's Edition, you'd miss out. Which is... funny to type, seeing as it's $350 USD.

I normally try to avoid trailers as much as possible, and experience games organically, but made an exception for this one.

Looks pretty cool. Will try to play this one around when it comes out, unlike with Remake which I finished a few months ago.

Yoshida said FFXVI would be 35-37 hours and How Long to Beat says it's 35 hours, so it seems he's pretty accurate!

I'm a bit sad that Red seemingly is supposed to play sorta tanky. Defend a bunch and then hit hard...

But then I see Cait Sith with Mount and Dismounting with his Moogle and seemingly having his luck based attacks as well and I'm back in baby :)

Weve seen a few already but im having so much fun imagining what all the other dual techs will be like with each pairing of characters <3

I loved the slow pacing, expanding on everything from the original. Made the whole world feel more real, and none of it felt really super out of place IMO. Even the 'kh stuff'.
