Now we got Mike Johnson, a Republican who has made an active effort to overturn the election in 2020, is House Speaker.

Like, wtf were the Democrats thinking choosing to vote along with those 8 Republicans- including Gaetz- McCarthy out of office.

Now we even have a worse Republican in the House Speaker position now.

Admittedly, I wasn't expecting that a Republican like Johnson to get in. I was expecting the House Speaker position would be vacant for months and due to such chaos, there would be a government shut down. But instead we got a dangerous Pro Trump speaker in office.

I mean, the democrats did unanimously vote to remove him. That alone didn't get him out, and given that their votes weren't really in question it would be more accurate to point the finger at Gaetz and then other clowns for messing with expectations, but his removal was still the democrats' desired outcome. It's not entirely inaccurate to characterize it as the Dems voting him out, as much as that's a very incomplete picture.

Neither party has ever voted their own speaker out, either. The democrats could have voted to keep him in, as much as that would have radically broken tradition. They chose not to.

Is Johnson their fault? I wouldn't say so. But it's still not wrong to say that the Democrats have some responsibility for ousting McCarthy.

Well they should've broke tradition, because now we have a more dangerous Republican in office now. Someone who is willing to overturn the election results. McCarthy wasn't willing to do this.

I would say it is their fault due to the fact that it was only 8 Republicans that voted him out, while it was all 212 Democrats that voted to oust him as well.

I don't know about you or anyone else. But with Johnson as Speaker, some crazy shit might happen in the next year. If Trump doesn't get indicted, that the chances of the election being overturned will increase if he wins, and since he's a MAGAT Republican, I can see him doing some crazy shit like shutting down the government in the name of "balancing the budget".

Like, I hope you're a troll or you're living a lie. Others pointed out as well, it was supposed to be a red wave. I was afraid of it because of people disliking Biden, but i guess those that are the loudest aren't always the ones who vote.

McCarthy's speakership was always going to fail, they were always going to replace him with someone worse. It was only a question of who they could get with the least baggage. Honestly, nothing has changed, other than they played their hand too early. It doesn't matter that when Biden and the democrats sweep next year that the election won't be certified. Biden's presidency will resume regardless, and the secret service will have to step in and forcibly remove the occupying republicans. And beyond that, honestly, as awful as they are, I highly highly doubt the SCOTUS would hand the election to Trump. This coup is doomed to failure.

Biden =/= Congress.

Furthermore, most people to the left of the clinically insane have not liked Biden since he was forced on us during the 2020 Primaries. Some may have liked what he had to say, but not Biden himself. Keep in mind most people who voted for Biden did so as a vote against the known con artist (going on info and incidents as far back as the 1970s) who was in office in time and should never have been in office.

So saying Biden is unpopular is such a lame argument against how the election will treat our country's do-nothing legislative branch. You would know this if you didn't subscribe to propaganda literally made and catered to idiots who are frightened and angered by every little thing they don't like (literally Fox and their business model for decades now).

Add to this that Ozzy is using ancient poll data.

Independents do grant favor to Trump, but overall percentages show Biden holding a slim lead with registered voters. Kennedy running is hurting Trump more than Biden.

Do you really think people are just going to ignore the economy when they go to the polls? We have the worst inflation in 50 years, and it's not going anywhere. They can try to tout lower inflation numbers all they want, it's not going to help. People want to see deflation. They need to see prices come down. They keep cooking the books to make the numbers look better, but it's only making things worse for the average person. I just saw an article the other day swooning over how the GDP is through the roof. Yeah, that's going to happen when Janet prints 600 billion dollars in one month.
What they don't understand is that your average household could care less about any of those numbers. The ones they care about are the ones they see on their grocery receipt and on the gas pump, and when the prices keep going up, they're going to blame whoever is in charge. You can take all the social issues and throw them right in the trash. At the end of the day people's #1 issue is providing for their family.

Like the Inflation Reduction Act? The 740 billion dollar bill that does basically nothing to reduce inflation. They hope it will bring in 300 billion over the next decade. Super helpful.
They just keep printing money with no consideration of how to pay it back. You want a fun fact? The interest payments alone on our debt are about to surpass our total military spending. Yet nobody will do anything to stop it. We have two multi-billion dollar proxy wars to fund after all. So the military industrial complex is living high on the hog right now.

Like the gas price gouging prevention act? Like the insulin price gouging prevention act?

The problem with inflation isn't simply that there's too much money, it's that too much of that money is being siphoned away by the leeches at the top and not trickling back down. If you want to mitigate that, you need to do things like implement a VAT, or adjust tax brackets to shift more of the burden to those who can afford it, or regulate the housing market to keep investors from pricing people out of having somewhere to live, or implement UBI. There's absolutely no chance the GOP would ever support such things, let alone propose them. The Democrats aren't particularly likely to push that far because they're similarly in bed with corporations, but the odds are nonetheless much, much better that they'll do something than that the GOP will.

Without measures specifically intended to stop wealth inequality from continuing to spiral out of control, the situation's going to get worse. Republicans won't take such measures. Quite the opposite: they'll cut taxes for the wealthy, distract everyone from the fact that they've done so by picking on whichever minority punching bag makes for the most effective culture war, slash a few programs for some short-term savings, then leave office just in time for the next Democratic president to have to solve the fallout from those decisions (fallout which, of course, the GOP will blame said president for).
