I decked my house out in Halloween shit and bought like $80 worth of candy. Not one trick or treater. Is Halloween dead or what

At least you'll have candy to last you until Christmas.

What kind of area do you live in? Did you get any last year? Could just vary from place to place.

I'm in a rural retirement town, and there's only so many areas kids are taken. We haven't had a trick-or-treater since 2004 as nobody comes to my neighborhood.

It was 30 degrees and snowing in my area tonight, so I don't blame kids for not wanting to trick-or-treat. Especially since my neighborhood isn't safe to be outside in after dark to begin with.

I'd be surprised if there were, I think ipads and youtube might actually trump the prospect of candy for a lot of kids, especially if they become too lazy to physically walk and just order candy on their tablets and whatnot. It's a sad state of affairs

Due to the cold weather I had a drop off tonight. Usually I get around 100 to 125 kids in my tiny town of 1,000 people. I had about 60 kids tonight. Bound to happen when its 30 out. I didnt see the very very young kids out with parents walking. Just older kids on their own or slightly older kids with parents following in vehicles.

I moved in March to a new place but I used to live in a "nice" area 3 miles away where $100 in candy was skimpy. So I thought $80 here was gonna be okay but it's 9 pm and not a single kid has come by. I'm also in a gated community now so that might be it. I have so much candy now tho and idk what to do with this shit

No you did the right thing, chocolate for the win. It's just unfortunate that you weren't close to a neighborhood where kids actually needed it

This year was ok. Major step was getting some better lights because last year this fat ass bush was blocking the lit doorway from the angle most people would approach, so like nobody thought we were active.

Thankfully not the same problem this year. I could've used more candy, actually.

Some kids arrived with full buckets, but some still a little bare. It looked like the neighborhood wasn't too active. I get that safety is becoming a rising issue everywhere, and people are getting old, but I grew up in this neighborhood and it was more active.

Costumes were cool. The influence our generation still keeps some themes of old Jason, Nightmare Before Christmas, simple stuff like pirates. One thing I noticed more this year is girls wearing male character Spider-Man costumes. I think it's especially cool seeing the Miles costume because the character has been developing into much more than a simply being a token/spinoff character.

I don't quite see myself being to go hard on decorations, but I'm definitely looking to refine my simple lighting, which may be a case of getting more to cover more area properly.

I guess I reached that point in life where I believe there's some obligation to the next generation. It is a bit going out of my way, but it's not like they can transfer to an entirely different neighborhood on a Tuesday night, where many houses close shop by 9pm (at least that's how I knew it growing up).

I haven't gotten one in decades and I have no desire to.
Though even as a kid we never got many if any.
The all hit up the subdivision.
Though there was a guy down the street that delivered for Frito lay, or for w/e company, and always had a frito lays truck parked there,so you knew you were getting chips there.

But ya I think the practice of trick or treating has out lived its usefulness for a while know.

I bought some candy, but then I was feeling really worn out for some reason, so I turned off the front light and went to sleep.

I heard trick or treaters going to neighbors houses, though.

People don't trick-or-treat in my neighborhood because it's a poor area and lots of druggies. But I did house sit for some family members who are away and only got one trick-or-treater. If I'd have known, I woulda given her all the candy I had, lol.

I only bought two bags of candy, but aside from that, same. At the very least I shoulda got the regular kit-kats. I got the Halloween themed green ones, which I think are white chocolate. That shit's too sweet.

We had maybe 30 kids this year. Usually it's around triple that. I'm pretty sure the sudden cold kept folks in this year. It was mostly very young ones that were probably on their first or second Halloween. Usually there's a ton more kids that are 10+

Passing out candy is still fun. I braved the chilly air in my hoe costume to impress the moms and drank warm spiked cider with the neighbors.

I probably had at least 10 kids which is definitely a season high. We had two last year, and they were the kids who live next door. I live in a big neighborhood but for some reason my street is usually skipped even though it's an easy throughway to two big streets.
