Per year. Pretty wild for me. Never thought thatd happen, but switched careers and about a year into the new field I earned a raise and now make over 6 figures.

feels good to work my butt off and get rewarded. And to not live paycheck to paycheck. And to start to see my retirement and savings accounts grow :)

Hell yeah, congrats. I hit that milestone a couple years ago. Feels great.

Yeah, but the novelty wears off. I barely even noticed or cared when I hit 7 figures, let alone 8.

got laid off at the beginning of the year in part because I was at 85k but asking for a raise to 90.

ended up with a job making comfortably over 6 figures feels good man

That was my goal this year. I joked to myself I needed to achieve one more 6 of the 6-6-6 club, the one not determined by genetics. Ive been so close. Made it to the second of three interviews twice. Had another just today.

See I would expect a disproportionate number of people on gamefaqs to be working in tech, where 6 figures isnt uncommon

I can barely imagine what it'd be like to be so comfortable and secure in making money.
Work sucks though, so i work hard and then go home and forget about it. I need to find that job that pays you to watch TV and smoke pot...

Cybersecurity, just got put on a project doing some security architecture stuff with AWS which was part of the latest promotion

Never too late to change fields. I firmly believe humans arent meant to work one job their entire lives. Thats an old school mentality and the reason why so many old people are miserable.

My Wife hit that milestone this year, she's a senior Salesforce admin.

I make half what she makes, but I had an interview last week for a job that made around $75K, plus a lot of traveling perks with a company car. The interview went great, and they were talking like I was a perfect fit but of course they must of had a few more interviews and I lost out.

It's actually really difficult to get ANY job these days that isn't some $15/hr retail gig. With LinkedIn and all these job post aggregate sites like Indeed, there are thousands of people applying for maybe 1 job even if they have no idea what it is. Many people just try to "fake it to make it" and hope they will quickly get up to speed after they are hired. How do people like me who are completely honest on my resume stand a chance?

What did you do before and what did you do to break into tech? Learn on your own? Go back to school?
