Sure I can just stream King of the Hill or stream the news on my own but there's something... oddly comforting about watching it live.

I know what you mean. I enjoy being at a hotel and just scrolling through channels on the TV. It brings me back to the simpler times of not having to decide what show to stream.

Flipping channels and one of them is showing Back to the Future. It just started too. Fuck yeah

It's basically An American Tail's "Somewhere Out There" except instead of looking at the same moon you're watching the same rerun of a decades-old sitcom.

Live TV and scheduled programming serve as background noise.

When you stream something, it's something you want to watch and pay attention to.

It's great stuff. I got myself cable a couple years back and i love it.
King of the Hill and Golden Girls is awesome.
It's nice it chooses shows for you.

Streaming is okay. It's nice having a whole selection of shows and movies, but then again, On Demand exists.

Was channel surfing earlier and noticed Talladega Nights was just starting

Flipped the TV to that, lounged on the couch, played Suika Game on my laptop while Talladega Nights played in the background. Perfect quiet night in.

It's basically An American Tail's "Somewhere Out There" except instead of looking at the same moon you're watching the same rerun of a decades-old sitcom.

My brother and I had a night like that once. We were talking on the phone (we live across the country from each other) and both started talking about the same movie we watched on HBO the night before.

No pressure to pick out a new video, it runs eternally in the background. I got into the habit of watching adult swim at night again a couple of years ago, and it was pretty nice. The only reason I stopped is because we switched TV providers and I opted out of getting a box for my room because it would cost more money per month.

Which is fine. I just watch YouTube again. But I did have a nice time reliving the glory days of watching cartoon network at 2 a.m.

Honestly probably gonna talk to my internet provider when I get back to my place (house sitting rn) to see if I can get cable tacked on. Was gonna upgrade to fibre internet anyway so maybe I can get something bundled.

now imagine piling into a stream chat and watching live broadcast tv with some bros. such was my experience of the early 2010s thanks to mlp:fim.
