Here's a list of all the rewards you get for beating each boss rematch

Belome - Mallow Weapon
Punchinello - Bowser Weapon
Booster - Geno Weapon
Cake - Autorevive accessory
Johnny - Extra shiny stone (used to challenge 3D Culex)
Jinx - Accessory that boosts gauge generation
3D Culex - A Key Item called Crystal Shard which does nothing >_> You apparently can rematch him though and he'll rank you based on how many turns it took

I'm guessing the weapons are gonna bring everyone else on par with Mario's Lazy Shell and Peach's Frying Pan

I can confirm that the mechanic where if you use Jump a bunch of times, it slowly increases power is still a thing >_>

The easter egg where Mario does a pose if you say no a bunch of times before saying yes is still there.

It's still going to be easy. It's always been super easy. It's just strange so many are fixating on that, when the game itself was always a blast to play. This isn't Dark Souls and never will be.

I said it in another topic, but if you want to make the game harder, just don't use the timed button presses for extra damage and damage reduction.

A nearly 1:1 remake of an SNES game for $60 is just about the most blatantly cynical cash grab nintendo has ever done imo

you could have gotten this exact same experience years ago, for no extra cost, if they had just put this game on the online service they have specifically for this purpose

They still had to recreate the game from the ground up, so calling it lazy is pretty laughable.

You get the Signal Ring at the hidden box tutorial which is a pretty good change. idk if the hidden box in the Mushroom Castle is still missable or not

Yea

it was the same general game but modernized with a bunch of new features and QOL updates; the old one is still worth playing because it the remake is different enough to feel like an entirely new experience

In general game development is a lot more difficult/complicated than people from the outside seem to give it credit for, so I take issue with calling a clearly polished and well-made game lazy, regardless of if it's a 1:1 remake.

They could've perhaps chosen a lesser price for it like the Crash and Spyro remakes, but 1:1 remakes that basically just end up being prettier versions of the old games have a place in the industry.

I know for a fact some of y'all would not be defending other games with the same energy in similar situations. Not hating on the game or anything, just saying.

Seems to depend entirely on the quality of the game. It's why Sonic gets shit on for the smallest things that other games would get away with, because its reputation isn't that great.

I noticed a dialogue change in when the streamer got to Mushroom Kingdom. The kid running around used to say she wanted to be Mario's bride and to wait a few years until she grows into a wedding dress lol. Now she says she wants to be Mario's sidekick and to wait a few years before she can help beat up Bowser

Yeah I understand that. Like how Square edited out Celes getting beaten in the cell in FFVI before Locke saves her.

Now there's beefed up enemies that appear in random encounters. I saw a fight with a Spikey where it had 80 HP instead of 20

Also Mallow gets Psychopath (now called Thought Peep) at default. And you use it to get the stats and thoughts filled out in the besitary. Apparently there's gonna be a dude in Booster Pass that will fill in blank spots in the besitary in exchange for Frog Coins too

Mallow has this cute shivering animation when it's his turn in battle now. All status effect animations used to freeze when it was your turn in the SNES >_> Cool detail

Also, the "optimal" level ups are still a thing here. If you didn't know, certain level ups give more points to certain stats than others. The order starting at level 2 is basically special -> attack -> HP -> special -> etc..

During the Croco fight when you use Fireball on him, there's actually an animation of his tail catching on fire instead of just a simple text box like in the SNES version

You can hover over each stat now and see what the points will be without hitting A. If you forget the order just look at all of them. If attack or special get more than 1 point, then choose that. If they both only give 1 point, then HP is the optimal stat.

Oh wow. I saw footage that single target magic attacks are now blockable. Crystal, Drain, Mega Drain, Storm, Diamond Saw, Dark Star, they're all blockable lol. Only AoE spells can't be blocked now

Oh wow, that actually does make it way too easy.

Yeah, there's footage of a guy fighting Culex on youtube and he blocks a bunch of those spells. The timing window looks like it's pretty tight though

I always rotated between Mallow/Geno and Peach/Bowser. I like to level everyone up. Those teams always seemed pretty balanced, probably b/c each had one overpowered character on them.

Completely disagree. Geno's just another shooting-based character.
Mallow would be way more interesting for Smash Bros. Dhalsim-like stretchy arms, various magical ranged abilities, and floaty jump physics would make him really fucking fun in Smash.

They removed the fucking jiggle physics and Bruce Lee line, and made the game easier. Like...none of the new content appeals to me.
Why are kids so fucking coddled now? We had no problem w/ Super Mario RPG, but apparently they have to dumb things down for "modern audiences" w/ everything now.

I made a topic here before and the majority of people did not want the masterpiece to be touched. I would link the topic but it's against the tos. But let's not derail. The point is some of you guys would not use the same argument to defend this game for others games in similar situations, and it's okay. Neon has no problem admitting being a fanboy and takes no shame or offense to it. I think some of y'all would actually feel some relief to acknowledge this about yourself.

Drain is now Hot Shot
Mega Drain is now Fire Saber
Corona is now Flare (thanks covid...)
Light Beam is now Light Bubble
Static E! is now Static Electricity

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I saw in the Culex fight
