I have you tagged as a mild pejorative over a prior argument we had way back in the day when I used to go annoy people on the now-defunct Politics board.

Definitely going to change that since while we may have our differences and disagreements on certain topics, I hold no ill will towards you, bruh.

Quite the contrary in fact, as I enjoy talking about game-related stuff with you and the other regulars here.

You're argument is that they shouldn't prosecute an action that results in death because it may lead to the prosecution of actions that lead to severe injury?

Really?
Presumably professional athletes are aware of the risks associated with their sport. If a boxer accidentally kills his opponent from repeated blows to the head, should he be charged with manslaughter? What if a pitcher lets a fastball slip out of his hand wrong and he beans the batter in the head?

I don't know what happened in this specific case, but I'd be careful with opening this can of worms.

Throwing at a batter is absolutely not allowed in the context of the game. I'm talking about baseball.

I didn't comment on this specific case, I'm talking about the precedent it sets. That should have been clear to you if you read my post more carefully.

He has a history of foul plays, but pointing this out gets you branded a racist.

Yeah was a dick. That's dangerous. What's odd is he was absolutely not going to miss Johnson on the check that killed him. He looked like he had a chance to check him clean.

Fucking Error was downplaying the whole thing.

I still don't believe the player intentionally tried to murder the player with a kick to the throat, and incorrectly boiling it down as me just 'downplaying the whole thing' is so fucking disingenuous. Go fuck off.

From my understanding from other hockey players, they said it was a dangerous play and he was definitely trying to interfere in Johnson's ability to even enter the play. He wasn't making a safe play.

Is that enough for manslaughter? I don't know the laws.

Disingenuous, you mean yelling at "armchair referees" who were trying to pin the thing as a murder (which nobody in the topic was doing so), then when you were called out on it, you tried to deflect by bringing up his teammates defending him and telling people to shut the fuck up?

I don't know what happened in this specific case, but I'd be careful with opening this can of worms.

Boxers have died in the ring, and no one has been prosecuted. I don't know baseball, but cricketers have been killed by legal fast bowling aimed at the head (Phil Hughes, for example), and no one has been prosecuted. Every week, players are injured in every sport and no one is prosecuted.

If this was an accident, it wouldn't be prosecuted. If it was a standard move/a regular part of the game, it wouldn't be prosecuted.

If the decision is made to prosecute (and that's still pending), it will be because it is believed that there is sufficient criminal recklessness involved.

Things work a little bit different over there. They have to arrest you before they can talk to you about a crime. It's not like the United States.

100% how I feel. Not sure on the laws but as stated happy to see something to help start the conversation.

Has no place in Hockey.
