Probably because movies are more expensive now, the days of people seeing any old superhero B-lister are over. People are only gonna spend money on characters they know, so we might be back to only Batman/Spider-man/Superman etc. movies. Oh well, at least thanks to the MCU, the pool of superheroes the mainstream knows about have been expanded.

They can do B-listers, but they need to learn how to work with smaller budgets and get more creative and resourceful with their filmmaking approach. Something like Blade doesn't need to be a $250 million movie, and I wouldn't even call him a B-lister.

Fox did A LOT of things wrong when it came to the X-Men movies, but I'll give them props for at least attempting the psychological horror angle with New Mutants. They didn't have to film expensive action set pieces so they could keep the budget low

I just had a thought. What if the villain or villains in this are the bad guys from comic Spider-Verse. Would be weird but maybe they are using that story as an origin story. Would explain why the Spiders are being hunted. Maybe they all are detectable as Spiders to the Villains, even though they themselves don't understand who they are yet

Seems like it's at least drawing inspiration from that, with all the spider totems being connected and all.
Just minus the multiversal stuff. Morlun would make sense as a villain here.

Fun fact, Dakota Johnson has done nude scenes. In all three 50 Shades movies she has shower scenes, and they show everything I think. Kinda weird cause the movies are supposed to be marketed to women. But the only nudity is a woman

But it also had 2 sequels I think. I don't remember the 2nd ones name. But I think the 3rd is called End of Spiderverse. I think Madam Web is involved in those events. But I read Spiderverse like 10 years ago. I haven't read the 2 sequels yet

The idea is promising and it could definitely have some really cool action scenes. Problem is, I'm not sure Sony is capable of doing that.
