i'm 33. have had multiple people bail on me while apartment hunting and this guy has been ultra responsive and has his shit together i guess. kinda weirding me out. had a phonecall w him and he has a lot of stuff going on. finance bro who is a huge swiftie and works for some... problematic... company. very strange personality mix. says he is never home which is a huge plus.

thankfully a 26 y/o tech bro obsessed w sports is also moving in so i can chill with him. we've ben linked up for like a week but our third dropped out this morning. he seems like a normie and i am also kind of a normie.

hopefully i get this apartment CE it is directly across the street from where i used to live. great area. also once i live there i can get a job after having not worked since august lol!

Are apartments so expensive there that you need roommates in your 30s?

Most apartments are. I lived in a two bedroom with a friend in 2017 that run 1000 (we got a deal after our old one burnt down) normal price was about 1230/mo

That same unit today is 1700 dollars.

I feel like this is a bit judgemental

you don't know why someone might want/need roommates

i don't know anyone who doesn't have roommates except for people who are married or still live with their parents. there's plenty of listings from ppl in their 40s if you go look around.

a studio in a decent area is going to be like 2000 minimum and the studio life isn't necessarily for everyone, then a 1 bedroom will be more expensive

This. While I personally dont have to or want to share living quarters with housemates, other people sometimes need to and sometimes want to. I like having my own space but others can find it very lonely.

Yeah. It's stupid. Rent and mortgage are like the same, it's asinine. Even living in the ghetto doesn't always come cheap.
I'm going back to my parents so I can get a healthy down payment cause I'm done renting (except from my parents).

alright tech bro guy remembered a tech bro and hit him up instead

said he's vibing better with him than swiftie bro

kind of annoyed. there is going to be a karmic debt to pay. swiftie bro also gives off sociopath vibes so kinda worried he'll stake us out and kill us

I live in a Midwestern US town of 5,000 and the cost of renting is $1,600 a month. Even the crummier places go for $12,000 a month.

Agreed. Sharing an apartment with a stranger is my last resort, but that's just me. I'm debt free and can afford a one bed room apartment.

But we don't know everyone's situation. A lot of are people in debt and trying to pay it off, or trying to save money, and/or can't afford to live by themselves (apartments and houses in some stated are especially expensive).
