Nah. They moved on. And there's a lot of things in the game that imply aerith with cloud. Even with Advent children, the tifa x cloud pairing basically dies there.

Also, *Aerith.

She's literally Aerith in the original Japanese manual. She's Aerith in the American release if you glitch pass the naming screen. Aeris is a mistake.

And from what I heard, it was literally just one guy who translated her name wrong. Something about communication between countries not being as easy back then. But literally just 1 guy who was in charge of this and made the mistake.

There is no kana sound for "th" so Earisu is an approximation. We know from the developer that the intent is her name is supposed to sound like "Earth"
