When I hear Mount Rushmore, it's not even only about pure individual quality, which I can speak very little of because I watch only the Super Bowl every year and nothing else. It reeks of personal bias when trying to use his technical qualities against him.

Tom Brady is just the biggest name at this point. It's ridiculous to not put him on there.

Mahomes ain't taking any discounts and I don't hear people using that against him

Matt Cassel, who never started a single game in college at QB, won 11 games after stepping in for an injured Brady in 2008

with a team that just went 16-0

that would be the equivalent of the Chiefs winning 6 games next year. Or, you know, how the Patriots dropped from 12 wins to 7 wins after he left for Tampa. Also Matt Cassell won 10 games with KC two years later. 11-5 isn't that impressive, especially with a team that just went 16-0. The fact that people use this against Brady is baffling

edit: just to really drive home how big of difference 5 wins is, the 49ers won 5 more games than the Jets

Why are people using Brady having a top defense against him? His HC/GM prioritized the defense throughout their dynasty. Need I remind you the first time he had a good offense he blew out the Chiefs in the SB. Please don't pretend they couldn't have dropped 40 on that Chiefs team.

You guys remember after Brady left the Patriots and then they proceeded to win the AFC East the next 2 years and won a Super Bowl, and everyone was like "oh, I guess it was all Belichick". No? Oh, that's right, it's because it didn't fucking happen and history has borne out that Brady was the bigger reason for their success.

And I'm not in any way a Patriots or Brady fan. But to try to bring him down is farcical. The man always did what he had to do, brought out the best in his teammates (or maybe used them the best), and took advantage of the good calls for him. History is littered with more talented quarterbacks who did less with more and who choked at the wrong moments.

Now, as a Giants fan, Eli is a fucking legend for taking down the Pats twice in the Super Bowl. He was a good, solid, and dependable QB who peaked when it mattered most. He also had more 4th quarter comebacks in his career than most people realize.

Tbh, I put Brady on there solely because I'd leave Belichick off of a HC mount rushmore. Belichick was nothing without Brady and Spygate. His coaching tree is barren. And it's a joke when people think we should rename the Lombardi after him.

Dink and Dunk merchant allegations are dumb too. His deep throw options throughout his TWENTY years on the Patriots were Moss and Chris Hogan. He had Moss for something like 3 years, and go ahead and google who Chris Hogan was.

Objectively, Brady deserves to be on there. But as a Jets fan I reserve the right to leave him off because of AFC East hatred. Also, the Jets were the ones to unfortunately release him upon the league. That Mo Lewis game might actually be the first game I really remember watching.

*10, technically. Brady still started the game he got hurt in. Also, Cassel didn't make the playoffs with anyone until 2010, when he took advantage of a laughably bad AFC West division that year and then got dunked on at home by Baltimore.

plasmabeam posted...
Jimmy G and Jacoby Brissett went 3-1 during Brady's 4-game suspension in 2016.

And then Brady literally went 14-1 upon returning, which included the biggest Super Bowl comeback of all-time.

plasmabeam posted...
The 2023 Bucs won more games (and a playoff game) with Baker Mayfield than the 2022 Bucs won with Brady

Baker in his 7th year still trying to find a stable home (which he finally did) vs Brady in his 22nd year on his way to retirement. Also, the playoff game Brady lost was to a red hot Cowboys team. Baker in 2022 wouldn't have won that game either.

Greatest defensive player of all time is debatable (I'd argue hard for Reggie White personally), but I don't think you'd get a ton of pushback on LT.

White has the longevity, but I think LTs higher prime, versatility, and influence on offensive schemes to try to stop him is why hes the defensive pick there. White is probably the second head on a all defense Rushmore though

three and four well that could be an interesting debate.

I feel like Interior Lineman would make sense too so Lily/Page/Greene/even Donald could all be argued, Interior LBs are different too so like Butkus or Ray Lewis make sense, secondary you have it mostly covered but can see a case for Rod Woodson. Lots of candidates really
