So honestly, after the topic today, I was pretty heavily challenged. It made me think a lot, maybe I am wrong? But I wasn't sure, I wanted to do my research first. So I looked into the Connect the Grid Act, and it seems its main purposes are:

Connecting the Texas ercot grid to the neighboring grids, bringing it under the same oversight that those fall under for regulatory and safety purposes, and also requiring the department of energy to conduct studies on the benefits of having a direct energy connection to Mexico via ercot.

Honestly it seems like this will help with having a more reliable power supply for Texas in emergencies, but also help the surrounding regions if they're ever in trouble and need Texas's help. Also it will no doubt generate a lot of revenue for Texas. Not to mention, it will help promote renewable energy for Texas in the long run.

It's crazy, but CE actually changed my mind and really had me look into this. All I had to do was let go just a little bit of that negativity and really do my own research on the project. At this point I'm asking, why wouldn't we do it?

What's really crazy is, I was willing to vote against this simply out of fear and spite against the other side, when this could help save millions of lives from freezing to death. I guess years of Fox News and Alex Jones really take a toll, I didn't understand that before. But now, I'm ready for a change.
Wao, someone actually admitting they were wrong. Hell must be having a snow day.

But he did.

Some republicans are as much puppets as perpetrators, parroting the misinformation far right media feeds them. Any hope a person can be shown the truth, is a chance to push back against the war on reality.

Yeah, but it's sad that they would come to that conclusion after just doing a little research when I'm sure for years, people were telling him/her otherwise.

And i'm not a fan of their treasonous bullshit Of trying to overthrow the Government On my birthday to try to make Trump King I'm no longer sympathetic to the suffering of Republican red states They have no one but themselves to blame for the squalor they live in. I'm sure if someone who votes blue lives in that state they are smart enough to by solar panels or get a generator.

They need to be focused on fighting voter suppression then and do everything they can to make Texas blue so they can join the national grid. Because Texas will not join while under Republican terrorist control

What would this do exactly? Its not like this would change the current infrastructure they already and doing so would probably cost a crazy amount of money and time for something that may not even help them much if at all.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Texas has the worst voter suppression in the country.

Texas only allows ONE ballot dropbox per county, meaning Harris County, with 5 MILLION people, and greater in landmass than the state of Rhode Island, has the same number of ballot dropboxes as a county with fewer than 1,000 people.
You must be 65 or older to vote by mail in Texas.
Texas does not allow online voter registration, or same-day voter registration.
The government removed a popular on-campus polling location at TAMU.

"Just vote!" is an incredibly simplistic solution that does nothing to actually help. It's like telling a depressed person to "just be happy".

I didn't do any "research", I did a 3 minute regurgitation of the talking points they're using to market the bill from their own website. Did you read my post? Cmon guys.

Y'all will believe anything, no matter how ridiculous and asinine it sounds, as long as it sounds like it comes from your side. As long as it agrees with your opinion, you'll believe it, forever.

If it is that easy to be fooled by a post that frankly sounds idiotic, then why should I believe a politician who would be clearly much more skilled at lying? Maybe y'all should take a "dont believe conservatives by default" stance.

That, and Texas has had among the lowest voter turnout for at least 50 years, even before the suppression tactics.

Texans just don't vote.

The fact that Abbott's margins shrank in an election cycle that was more favorable to Republicans from a cycle that was more favorable to Democrats (Abbott won by 11 points in 2022, an R+3 cycle, down from 13.3 points in 2018, a D+9 cycle) should show Democrats that Texas is winnable.
