Legends Arceus was their best game in a while so this was a pretty strong announcement IMO.

Best case scenario was always that main team takes a break year. Nothing and Pokemon on NSO had been a success so they can be more polished when they release. This instead is a positive surprise imo.

Anyone that thought we might get a new Legends game thought Legends Kyurem or something
But they just...skipped over Gen 5 or something

IF they do end up more polished. Sadly we dont really have a guarantee for that. S/V proved their next game could only run at 5fps and still do 20M copies easily

Also remakes have been every other generation for a while. Wasn't expecting Unova just yet anyway. Likelier after generation 10 in some years imo.

I assume whatever three non-Kalos starters are picked will, if it follows the pattern of Arceus. But probably a few actual Kalos Pokmon too since none of them ever got one besides Diancie

Not a remake, its like what Legends Arceus was but for Kalos. Not sure what time period its set in though

The official title is Pokmon Legends Z-A btw. Or possibly ZA, the trailer has the hyphen but on Twitter they just said ZA

Okay now on Twitter they said it takes place ENTIRELY in Lumiose City. So we might be looking at an entirely different gameplay system here? I dont see how the Arceus style would work in that setting.

if you have any positive expectations throw them out the window because there is no way this turns out to be good. It might be at least cool like legends arceus and thats the most we can hope for

so Legends Victini should be during the Unova Civil War

I think that's why this game will be the perfect showcase for Switch 2

I don't think it's in the past. What little the trailer showed off included modern clothes and outdoor furniture styles. I'm thinking it's taking place after X/Y.

Other predictions:

• It's keeping the Kalos starters instead of a new mix, but this time they have Mega Evolutions.
• Instead of focusing on regional variants and evos like Arceus, it's mostly gonna feature new Mega Evolutions (perhaps primarily for Kalos Pokemon.
• Set almost entirely inside a giant Lumiose City, with maybe the outskirts or possible Hoopa shenanigans to smaller sub-areas.
• As a result, will not really play all the similar to Arceus.
• The A in Legends: Z-A is for a new legendary.

If it's early 2025, then it's still only the same 3-year dev cycle from Arceus to Z-A, so I'm not gonna get too excited about the idea of Game Freak "giving time to cook".

I get the futuristic stuff but it said outright "lumiose city urban development" which to me would indicate before it was built. I just don't think it's as far in the past before x/y as arceus was to Dppt, hence them having actual technology compared to Hisui.

Just woke up.

Oh well.

Almost certainly going to happen. It'll also be the game to finally give us Eternal Flower Floette (AZ's Floette), most likely as an event distribution.

Though the more I think of it, it's hard to imagine a big storyline with legendaries playing out entirely inside a city, so maybe there will still be plenty of exploration outside Lumiose. With Zygarde being a Ground-type, I guess it could just feature an underground area.

I think this game is gonna be way more experimental for Game Freak than Arceus was.

But on the other hand, Lumiose in X/Y didn't exactly strike me as a place where people and Pokemon coexist like that. This game could be about redeveloping Lumiose so it's better for wild Pokemon to inhabit it as well (which could feed into a gameplay loop of "develop part of city" -> "more new Pokemon available to catch").

Zygarde's Pokedex entries talk about it monitoring the ecosystem and attacking those who harm it, so its involvement in the story could be about restoring the balance between the natural and the man-made.

It looks like collecting the cards and microtransactions for those who want to open more than 2 packs a day.

I guess they don't want to cannibalize people buying real cards, so they had to just make this some lame shit. Bleh.

I would probably legit play a full blown digital TCG on mobile.

Honestly I like the idea of a TCG app that's more about collecting than battling. If it has a decent way to view and sort your collection, I might give it a shot. I tried TCG Live, but it was awful in that respect.
