It has a nice combination of historical significance and things to see but also a lot of modern amenities and areas to experience as well. A lot of nice parks and historic architecture. Plenty of good restaurants. The winters get cold but as long as you've got some good winter clothes I don't think it's as bad as people say (at least from what I've experienced). The big negative is it's expensive. Housing costs especially are high if you want to live in or near the city.
