My dad left shortly before I turned 3. I have no memory of it. So my mom raised me as a single mother. I've met my dad on multiple occasions, just don't have much of an emotional connection with him given the choice he made.

So, mom.

Probably my dad, but it was pretty close.

When I was a kid, both of my parents worked, so once they got home and dinner was over, things were pretty equal as far as who helped me with homework, who I watched TV with, etc.

As I got older, I gravitated more towards my dad, as we had more interests in common (pro wrestling, football, etc.).

It changed a lot. My parents were fun.
Now that I'm older...eh, i can talk to my mom better than my dad, but they're much better at small doses. I get why my older siblings were the way they were growing up. They forget how to treat younger people as adults.

Definitely my mom. We shared more common interests, and my dad was always the typical toxically-masculine boomer guy. As he grows older he slips further and further down the conservative rabbit hole and is getting actively aggressive about things rather than passive aggressive.

A few months ago he had a huge meltdown because I closed the kitchen door so I could turn on the light without waking up the birds in the dining room, and instead said that I should do my cooking in the dark with only a tiny light above the stove to see with -- knowing that I have night blindness.

When I asked what the problem was with me closing the kitchen door, all he said was "Because I said so!"

This is just one example, I could fill a topic with shit he's said to me, about me, or around me that cause me to drift further and further away and actively avoid being around him as much as possible.

So yeah, not a good relationship with my father at all.

Mom but no bad feelings towards my dad in saying that. My dad is a typical hardass and my mom is way more chill though she has her moments. With her it was mostly actual conversations where I could also explain my pov even if she did or didn't ultimately consider it for whatever she decided, for my dad it was mostly lectures. My personality is pretty much 80/20 mom/dad
