asked this on the board as well but maybe traffic isnt high

plz keep this spoiler free plz

I really want to buy this game due to I hear its amazing story and I love plot heavy jrps

but I heard you can pick and choose characters for the story, and that makes me worried, how will I know whos story to pick to make the story and game as LINEAR as possible? i dont want to play one chaarcter then go back adn start at another chaartcter after finishing one if that makes sense

is there a "correct" path?

Like suikoden III the guides here said what is the best pathing to choose for characters and their chapters to get the most of the story in a linear or best pacing to avoid spoiling or the story being unbalanced/uneven so thats why I made this thread

... no. Not in particular? There are stopping points between different characters, so the game doesn't let you get past a certain part before you know the references that will come up in the next chapter, but there isn't a wrong or right path so to say.

The game will lock progress for some characters chapters reaching a point in a related characters story. So you might have Character A and Character Bs plotlines gated off until you get PLOT REVELATION in Character Cs plot that lets you continue A and B.

The games plot involves time shenanigans, so youre not gonna have a linear plot no matter what.

The game isn't linear at all.
You can choose whichever character you want from those available, but progress with them will eventually be gated until you progress far enough with another character.

This. But I wouldn't refer to it as a JRPG though even though it has some light JRPG mechanics. Basically there are two main modes of gameplay in 13SAR, being the visual novel story mode and the real time / turn based tower defense stages. There is another mode dedicated to being a database that you can unlock entries in and / or see expanded data entries as you learn about new things in the game and rewatching story scenes.

Initially there are 7 characters to pick from for the story mode and each of their stories has multiple scenarios and some of them have different outcomes and a path that you need to take that scenario's story to complete it to eventually unlock a thought topic and eventually later story scenarios. Tutorial battles are a part of the story and come up occasionally after advancing the story in the early game, but eventually the story mode and the story battles will be separated for you to work on in the way you want to for the most part, but parts of the story and battles will be blocked off until you unlock and / or do part of the story or certain battles.

To complete the main story you essentially need to do all of character's stories to 100% and finish the 38 tutorial / main story battles. Then you unlock a ton more post game non story battles to really build your characters, etc..

No. Just pick your favorite characters o prioritize and enjoy.
The story is designed in such a way that it won't fully make sense until you're about 75% done with the game.

This. However while it is a bit more annoying I recommend you constantly switch characters and go through their stories at a somewhat equal pace. Don't focus too much on one character's story and get too far because some later parts of some characters' stories spoil huge plot details and developments that will make going through some other character's stories early on seem dull and even redundant because you'll know more than you should.
