Well I'd say you could read the manga instead if you want to experience the story again. You'd go through it a lot faster from reading it and you'll see how it is in its original form.

Clannad is a harem anime, not a cute girl anime. Very different genres.

I think Roba's definition of cute girl is the modern take with the symmetrical faces and voices that didn't sound like old ladies!

On the cute girls front, it seems the Hologra team is doing something a little more ambitious with Hololive Fantasy.
Could be an origin story of sort for how the gen formed, but interested to see what they can do with more time.

The Spring 2024 anime season has begun! I watched the first episode of Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included. I appreciated how it very, very quickly made it clear exactly what kind of show it would be. Within the first five minutes, main dude discovered a sleeping angel, spilled a bunch of sticky white stuff on her it was milk but still and then there were a bunch of bra and panty shots while she got cleaned up. This is going to be a fanservice harem show, 100%.

You know what though, I don't mind that every so often. It looks like it'll be the cute kind of harem rather than the dramatic kind or the creepy kind. The angel girl is fine so far, but based off the other girls shown in the OP at the end, she's probably going to wind up being my least favorite girl. Can't wait to meet the shy blue-haired one. Main dude also won points from me right away when, after running across a cat on the street, he first held his hand out and let the cat smell him. That's how you greet an unfamiliar cat! You don't just jump right into patting them, that would scare them away. Whoever wrote this understands cats and I respect that.

Decent start to the season.

The gut reaction when you first start this PV up is YEESH this CG, but the more you watch and pay attention to it I am actually shocked at how well animated, expressive, and unique this looks. It looks like a fun show but the reason Im checking it out is the animation.

The Ecchi tag and focus in the description about how the girl has big tits was an immediate turnoff and brought back Occultic;Nine flashbacks. However these PVs are fucking choice. This show is aesthetically fantastic and the actual core narrative seems right up my ally. I do wonder if the show is just overtagged, or if the PVs just arent showing the content that might bring it down for me. Only one way to find out!

I dont really have much to say here, since this is an SJ manga that Im all caught up on anyways, so I know it will be good. I do think it looks like they did a fantastic job with this adaptation at least, and have no doubt this will land very well with general audiences. The very first reveal images they had for this when the anime was announced actually looked pretty bad, so Im glad it got cleaned up.

I read exactly 2 chapters of this manga before hearing it was getting an anime soon, and deciding to wait and see. Im glad I did, because never expected the show would look THIS good. I only know the vague establishing setup of the series, a Sentai grunt looking to come out on top, and I think Ill keep it that way. Also, a continuous 2 cour anime, you love to see it!

Now THIS is a Doga Kobo winner in the making. The studio is up and down for me, but when they hit they HIT. This is an original at that, theres nothing here I dont like, it looks stupendous and Ill be watching this one intensely.

Re:Monster PVs versus what I have been told the story contains seem like either the most insane bait and switch around, or people were exaggerating it. Or, worst case, it has that content but its so blandly presented that it isnt even fun to get mad about.

Im sorry Whisper in Your Heart, I know Im desperate for more Yuri anime but this manga just didnt work for me at all, I kept up with it for a while but dropped it months ago. Maybe the show will be less boring? I know other people are big fans though so don't let me talk anyone down here.

God I hope the idol aspect of The Many Sides of a Voice Actor isnt a major part of that source material.

The Yokai Next to Me is a real dark horse, but Im worried it will be TOO comfy to the point of boredom. I feel this genre is starting to get away from me sadly.

Train to the End of the World or whatever its called has a cool premise. Hope it's even close to as good as Girls' Last Tour.

In the most boiled down, basic overview possible, it's what if MHA was about monsters instead of heroes and villains, and stared a guy in his 30s.

The Reincarnated Aristocrat manga wasn't very good. Wasn't terrible either, but yeah.

You can catch their VODs easily while working the night shift. I'm sure voltch and UF8 could hook you up if you ever want to dip in. You can pick your region, your type of girl and pretty much anything you can think of and there's probably a vtuber you can obsess over

You know, I only just found out the BanG Dream ones can play games like normal streamers. That said, on surface they don't appear any different from any other corpo vtuber group. Like odds are you would not know these two are with Bushiroad unless you were told.

That said, their presence is heavily in Japan, so it's not like you'd catch their stream even if they do go live a time that's more fitting for you.

Though I guess you could catch FuwaMoco when they go live. They recently moved to Japan and they're Canadian, so their stream should be in English and their day time would be our night time.

Finished S4 of Scissor Seven and now have to wait who knows how long for more. Great show though. More people should check it out.

I don't know what a titanfolk is. This topic is pretty much my entire connection to anime fans.

Titanfolk is an offshoot of r/freefolk which started as a sub to make fun of Game of Thrones and eventually a full on hate sub for the ending. It's primarily a series of subs dedicated to raging at controversial shows. Titanfolk started their own "rumbling" towards the last 2 chapters of the manga as they leaked and they this hate wave has basically been reverberating throughout all of reddit. Avoid r/titanfolk and r/jujutsufolk if you don't want anime to be ruined lol.

That meme has been passed around the entire anime community at this point, if you see it enough you might be able to piece together what it means. Seriously if you ever want to watch Jujutsu Kaisen don't look up that meme...

Another seasonal anime completed.

Ragna Crimson was an interesting show. It was a super dark fantasy series about hunting dragons. I wouldn't have guessed that I could enjoy a show with so much wanton slaughter. In the end, though, I wound up liking it quite a bit! Ragna had an interesting premise, even if it was a bit convoluted. Crimson was an interesting, enigmatic character, and all of his minions were great. Evil Slime in particular was the best. There were also a lot of super strong dragons with cool superpowers, and the battles were enjoyable. If anyone is looking for a dark fantasy action series, you could do a lot worse than this.

The only downside is that you'll have to watch it on Hidive. They updated their website and video player a few weeks ago, but catching up on this was my first time watching something there since then. My god, it's worse than before! There was a fucking "cookie setting" logo onscreen that wouldn't go away until I right-clicked, inspected the elements, and deleted whole lines of code. The only subtitle color option available was an ugly, hard-to-read yellow. There's no display setting options anymore and sometimes the quality would nosedive into pixelated smears and I couldn't do anything about it. Why did they get rid of the dropdown menu that let me pick 1080p? What the hell did they do to themselves? Literally everything is worse now.

I was kinda into Ragna Crimson at the very beginning, but I really hated how they started off with the pair but then literally deleted the MC and replaced him with an entirely different character thats OP af with that dumb angry personality, then have him ditch his partner because she's too weak to keep up after carrying his ass so long, THEN add this entirely new character Crimson and is like "okay NOW the series starts"

I strongly disliked Future Ragna and Crimson incomparison to how much I liked Ragna and Leonica, so just discarding the first pair for this new pair really rubbed me the wrong way. What a convoluted way to get to your series premise....

Yeah, that double-length first episode was kind of a bait-and-switch. Definitely convoluted, too. I didn't mind it though! The premise felt fresher than it otherwise would've been, I feel like there must be plenty of other anime that play this monster hunting idea in a more straighforward way. Plus I really liked the dynamic between Ragna and Crimson. Crimson was such a piece of shit most of the time, but in an interesting way.

More Leonica would've been nice too, I'll admit. Still, there were plenty of other neat characters. Did you stick around long enough to see Starlia? She was super cool and really carried the later portion of the show for me.

There appears to be 1 episode left of Metallic Rouge and discussion of it seems to have mostly evaporated.

After putting it on hold about 5 episodes in, I was hoping to hear about a triumphant finish, but it seems like it may be whimpering out. I was so vocal about it being my most anticipated series.....it's such a shame it ended up like it did.

I stuck with Metallic Rouge and regret it. Spoilers for my season ranking, it'll barely rank ahead of Fluffy Paradise, which is sad because FP wound up being weird pro-genocide propaganda. Then of course there's my own most anticipated show, Momochi House, third from the bottom...

At least Metallic Rouge's MAL score finally fell below AICO's! It feels like a show where the good production values would help prop up the rankings, but thankfully not. AICO deserves so much more than a 6.53, but MR having a (currently) 6.51 makes me feel less crazy. Hard to believe these two shows were made by the same studio.

You really gotta check out some more Bones shows one day lol.

But, like, the big ones.

Don't get me wrong, I like AICO a lot too, but it being your go-to anime to represent Bones will never not be funny.

Brave Bang Bravern! beated. Pretty good show, nearly ruined by having an awful protagonist. Isami truly was garbage to the end. Thankfully, Smith, Lulu, and Bravern himself are all great. It's pretty funny from start to finish, and while the serious parts generally aren't as good, some of them still hit later on. Lots of mediocre CG too, but a pretty good show overall.

Also watched Apothecary Diaries. This was pretty good, and Maomao is an awesome protagonist, though the rest of the cast isn't great. The mysteries are fun, and it's always cool to see her solve them. I did think the first half was quite a bit better than the second though, with less contrivances and a better supporting cast in the concubines. The animation was pretty fantastic too.

Gushing Over Magical Girls was fun from start to finish. The fan service was creative, and having the actual yuri episode was an amazing treat. The cast was pretty likable all around, and I liked how they felt like friends. Having two angry girls was great. Flight animation was nothing special, but it didn't really detract. Azure was my favorite. Utena was a bit unlikable sometimes but I think her hypocrisy was intentional.

Dangers in My Heart S2 was mostly an improvement over s1, though the slow pacing of the last 3 episodes disappointed. Animation and direction are great, humor is on point, situations are creative, and romance is heartfelt. The family members are all so damn good. Best romance in years.

Did anyone bother to watch Chained Soldier?

So the D4DJ game has a collab with it, and unlike the past collabs where I've at least somewhat heard of the series it's collabed with I drew a complete blank on this one.

Like I straight up didn't know it had an anime airing this winter and that it's a manga currently running in Shonen Jump+.
Its Japanese title is Mato Seihei no Slave if anyone's been reading it.

It's the current series from the Akame ga Kill guy.

My understanding is the anime is a pretty mediocre adaptation so it's not getting a lot of buzz, even though the manga is pretty popular.
