From what I've researched, it's typically the right who opposes public school. Accompanied by heaps of complaining about "leftist indoctrination".

Which makes it difficult to Google to learn more about the left's ACTUAL opinion. More information is welcome.

People should generally be as educated as possible

Maybe further left you get free tuition at private universities and/or free room/board/books. Eventually you get to no private universities.

Good to know. Segregation is baked into the right's ways. Poor students miles away from any passable school, are systemically disadvantaged even further than they already are.

Yeah, the biggest common thing youll see on the left in education making public universities free like they are in some other countries. After that, its usually just about ensuring the quality of education matches modern standards, and that goes to the local and state levels, so its generally not big news. From the left itd be something like teachers want new science textbooks with better focus on vertebrate evolution in the human history timeline.

I always have viewed America's educational system as the Hufflepuff of educational systems: it may not produce the smartest graduates, but it tries to ensure as many people get post secondary educational attainment as possible, as that was seen as the path to financials success and thereby social mobility for the longest time ,and it does a pretty good job at this, as we are very high in the worldwide rankings when it comes to this metric.

Other countries are much more selective on who goes into university and are much more into concepts such as tracking. Heck, there are countries that are quite content to throw people into the workforce before high school if thier grades were not good enough with the only university they may see being the inside of the university bathroom that they are cleaning. These things would never fly here for better or worse
