I enjoyed some of her songs but never really sought it out and then I ended up watching the beginning of the movie and after 3 songs I just went to do something else but then I ended up with an ear worm and then another and then another so I went and found the songs and now I'm wanting more. Its not that I hate her but damn I didn't think I was this easy to manipulate lol

I guess I used the wrong term? Maybe saying I'm a swiftie is going overboard because I like several different kinds of music and enjoy them all but when I get interested in something I end up going hardcore and listening to it all. I did that with My Chemical Romance just earlier this year and now I have all their albums stuck in my head.

I wouldn't say I'm a Swiftie, maybe I'm in denial. But damn if I don't have a huge crush on Taylor lol I quite like a lot of her music 1989 onward, and I'm looking forward to her new album Friday.

It's incredibly common for pop artists to not write their own music (or, at least not all of it in her case), or play the instruments required to produce the music themselves. I dunno why this would even be a remotely controversial take.

Generally, w/ metal bands, the band themselves - sometimes more often just one of them - writes all the shit, and then they play it. Like, if they needed a female vocalist, you'd grab a session artists, and that'd be that.

my friend is said die hard Swiftie. Its very cringe and she's used phrases and song lyrics in conversation which is what really turned me off from wanting to like her but I feel like listening to the songs and people are really always finding reasons to complain about her.

As much as TR would have liked to write, rehearse, and record with a symphony, scheduling conflicts made it impossible. So they did the next best thing. Joensen sent the bands ten thunderous compositions to a Danish colleague, Lars Winther, in England, who added the orchestral samples, paying close attention to the tone and tempo of the songs so the violins, violas, cellos, woodwinds, and horns complimented the traditional rock instruments. When the samples were all in place, the album sounded impressive, but the tones werent perfectly blended. So, TR sent the album to veteran producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, The Black Dahlia Murder, Amaranthe) in Denmark to put together the final mix.

Maybe you're misunderstanding something here, but the band has 4 members, with 1 of them doing most of the writing. They then sourced someone (ONE additional person) to do the orchestral portions, and then someone to mix it.

Considering there are 4 members of the band, that's 4 down.

Please provide the credits to a Taylor Swift album - who is, I'll remind you, a SOLO ARTIST.

Like any band she typically has a core couple collaborators that she works with for the majority of the tracks, and then brings in session musicians as appropriate on a track-by-track basis. I don't see how that's any different from, as I posted above, Ozzy's "solo" material

I'd have the exact same complaint about Ozzy / Dickinson's solo careers, both of which pale in comparison to the bands they're famous for.

Taylor Swift is a singer. If you removed her vocals from her albums, she might have like 1% of the content remaining that she's had a hand in (lmao her heartbeat on that one song xD). She's a completely negligible piece the pop music system. You could replace her with literally anyone and just tell people it was still her and it would still work.

I've been finding myself enjoying her songs more and more lately.

She writes some, or all of her songs, if you overlook all the cowriters. Very little of her music appears to be written solely by her. Also, this applies to ALL pop artists, basically, I don't care that she's a female artist. I enjoy a fair amount of female fronted music, including pop - but you'll never catch me trying to argue that they write all their music or anything when they don't.

In regards to Devin Townsend, he already has more credit, even in that pile of stuff than Swift - but we also already know Devin Townsend is an amazing musician, songwriter, and just all-around dude, cuz he's been killing it across multiple bands for decades - and again, I'd still have my complaints about his solo stuff, which I don't like nearly as much as his bands.

But, I'll take a band w/ 3-5 people, who handle 95% of everything themselves, who then get it professionally mixed, over the pop machine any day.

yeah shes undeniably talented, I do like most of her stuff but the oversaturation leads me to rarely listen to her now

I don't know if I'm a Swiftie. I probably wouldn't go to one of her concerts because I think that'd be weird but I legitimately like her music since it's fun and catchy.
