I use my phone to follow along with four different games between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

My phone: you must enjoy content about the Arizona Diamondbacks, I'll serve you more of that and pin their scores until you tell me not to!

Me: screw that, stop showing me Dback stuff!

Phone: okay

Then I use my phone to follow along with three games between the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres.

My phone: oh you must enjoy the San Diego Padres. I'll serve you more of that and pin their scores until you tell me not to!

Every damn time. Never mind that the OTHER team in the game is the Giants EVERY single time.

Take a hint and stop showing me extra crap about the team that my team just happened to play this week. No I didn't want several days of Pittsburgh Pirate details. Is our AI strong enough to handle this task? I will bow to any technological overlord that can crack this code.

my phone has no idea what baseball team I am a fan of because I am always buying tickets for opposing teams.

And since the most frequent purchase is for games in Anaheim its made the same weird association for hockey despite purchasing plenty of Kings tickets.

Regardless of what teams I buy tickets for (and I still get dodgers emails even though I'm quite sure I've opted out) the bottom line is that I check the score of the Giants game at least 162 different days each year.

How is that not enough for the algorithm to determine the single primary motivator for those queries??

It should be.

I get emails for like 7 different teams despite not opting in. I don't know how to stop it.

Yeah I get it every so often. Not as bad though.

I live in Washington state and support the only set of teams basically anyone from here does, so it's not very hard to guess

My phone doesn't seem to understand that its without an apostrophe is a legal word, so there's some work that needs to be done yet.

I bought Marlins tickets while in Miami a few years back, and to this day I get Marlins ads thrown in my face

Completely unaware of what other seemingly unknowable reason there might be for why I decided to care about the Pirates' score the past 3 days of all days and none of their previous 26 games.

I have a samsung galaxy, I spend half of my time looking at sports, and have no idea what this topic is about. I've never gotten a single anything about sports.

Trying to follow west ham in european soccer, I have to tell my phone to shut up about teams every weekend.

It is pretty solid on only showing me Orioles/Ravens stuff though

Like I was getting stories about a team I DESPISE even after I told The Google no, I don't wanna see any Iowa Hawkeyes stuff. I'm a Badgers fan! So that might be even worse because I outright said I didn't want to see enemy stuff and still got it.

I have tried my damndest to make it clear what teams I want to see news from and that I don't care about any others.

I've been getting a bit of that these past couple years as I've started to pin Wrexham scores. "No google, I don't give two shits about Forest Green".

But it mostly happens to me with MLB when I don't think it could be any clearer what team I support and that everything else is just the teams that my team played against.

That is the Dodgers for me, and the fact that they are division rivals means this happens a dozen times a year.

The less my phone can figure out about me without me telling it, the better

I watch sports like once every 3-4 years so, uh, yeah.

Yep, I also start getting score and highlight notifications for whatever team the Cubs played in the previous series.
