Human rights are a political thing. Bodily autonomy is also a human right, but that is clearly still a political discussion in the US.

Maybe they were in denial about how awful their rules are. I guess now if a mod doesn't like a post or opinion for any reason they can take it down and use "no politics" as an excuse. Being trans is political, that's what gamefaqs says.

So fucked up. It's almost like a "no politics" rule doesn't make any sense and is just going to lead to mods showing their bias. Why don't they just remove all off topic boards at this point? That's what they want, right? Fluffy on topic talk about Sonic the Hedgehog?

Pretty much.

I knew this was going to happen, specifically about queer stuff since everyone seems to think our existence is inherently political.

They've even tried to say that queer stuff isn't political, but that's frankly just burying their heads in the sand and refusing to acknowledge the reality that pretty much everything about queer people is politically contentious in some way. It shouldn't be, and it only is because certain groups insist on attacking queer rights such that it's necessary to defend against those attacks, but that's the simple reality of the matter.

Thank you to the mod who overturned that.

The rules about what and what not to mod where pretty vague when I was doing it. I can't imagine what they are now. Unless the mods where having a discussion about something specific, you were pretty much told: "Uh..yea..clearly you understand the TOS enough to become a mod sooo...just use your best judgement..."

I get the sense that the moderators are just as confused as we are w/r/t what "politics" actually means.

The confusion arises because anything can be politcal to someone. This type of topic restriction leads to inconsistent moderation.
