This one's a good bit tougher. My first thought is Control - was the first game to really convince me that ray tracing was going to be a huge thing in the future (and is still one of the best showcases of it today) plus the amount of environmental chaos in firefights once you've gotten some powers unlocked is really a spectacle.
Feel like the Metro games also deserve an honorable mention here, especially 2033 which was one of the first games to really take a crack at the Crysis throne in terms of pushing the envelope in hardware demand. Maybe Red Dead 2 belongs here too but I haven't played it so I don't know! --- Let the voice of love take you higher, With this gathering power, go beyond even time! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I don't know I have an answer for this. Maybe I'll +1 someone else's idea. People made a big deal out of Witcher 3 when it came out, I guess...

Seeing as the topic said 2010s, yeah I was waiting until we did 2020s (if we were going to do that at all since we aren't even halfway through it) to do Microsoft Flight Simulator since it came out in 2020.

oh right Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown was 2019 that's my vote sorted (weather effects are still legit for it) (speaking of weather effects, i did also just think of the Just Cause series and while i'm not voting it, i do think it'd be pollworthy) also shoutout to this game nobody played that i also just remembered called Voidrunner. it looked INSANE at the time (especially for an indie project with virtually no funding) and i'm still sad it flew entirely under the radar and bombed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNWPRh4EBrc ... Doom 2016. An absolute technical masterclass. Not only does it scale phenomenally well upwards with better hardware, it also scales down perfectly with dynamic resolution adjustments. It looked stunning on just about any vaguely capable PC, which is a huge accomplishment on a platform where variable specs are such a bane.
