I watched the 2011 one which I thought was solid. I think its called Rise, the first one was Ceaser

I also feel like I watched an old one as a kid in the 90s but not with full attention

I believe it goes

2010s trilogy> the new one that came out> old movies (2001 doesnt count)

I see nothing bit bad reviews for the old ones minus the first. A lot of times, even old movies with good reviews dont age well. Not sure I want to watch old movies with bad reviews

The original is great. Its four sequels are fun too.

The Rise, Dawn, War trilogy are all solid (and they hit a lot different now after Coronavirus >______>).

I really dont remember the Tim Burton one enough to give an opinion on it though. My jaded 14-ish-year-old self probably thought it wasnt good because I was in that jaded stage where I just automatically had the mindset of old thing good new thing bad but its probably not a bad movie.

The original Planet of the Apes is legitimately one of the best movies ever made. The Burton remake is mostly OK. It took a couple of times foe me to come around to it though.

Never cared for the original or the Tim Burton one, but the ones from the "Rise" saga have all been great.

They are ultimately silly movies but if you must watch them, I guess only the original and the 2010s trilogy are essential. Admittedly I haven't even seen the others lol (I've stumbled upon them in movie channels over the years but never watched them from start to finish)

The new one looks promising but it's starting to feel like a cash cow

^. the first one deserves to be considered a 'classic'.

i saw one of the new ones. it was entertaining, but very forgettable among all of the other CGI-based action flicks

The first one definitely holds up. I think the other four were fine, but I can barely remember what happened in them. I'd say you really only need to watch them if you're really into it. I'd say the newer films are all pretty good.
