Final fantasy 10, when you take off the nostalgia goggles, is fucking garbage. Awful characters, awful world. Only it's combat was any good. FF9 is the last time the series was excellent.

Naughty dog, since last gen, makes excellent movies, but boring by the numbers games. The gameplay in their games is really boring and kind of shit. The jak games were pretty fun though.

Last of us had some of the worst, most derivative, clunky gameplay of any critically acclaimed triple A game I've ever played in my life. It's story and acting were superb, yes, but as a game it's God awful.

it feels like western RPG quality is judged by gatekeeping rather than how fun it is to play or what mechanics it does well

some generic fantasy CRPG from the early 2000s is automatically considered better because casuals didn't like it/haven't heard of it

Huh? Assuming you've only counting last gen-current gen stuff, even then it doesn't make sense. Obviously the Uncharted games will be similar to each other, but if you think Uncharted and The Last of Us are the same game then lol.

Last of us gameplay is literally uncharted gameplay with stealth. The gunplay is identical

SOE were a bunch of buffoons for not properly advertising and supporting PlanetSide and they fully deserved getting sold off and having to close down more than half their games/projects

Could have revolutionized the genre
